••• I was sorry to hear via Restaurant Guy that Roost restaurant has closed. It evidently opened in May of 2018.
••• While at C’est Cheese stocking up for houseguests, I admired these Biddy Sticks grissini by a company called Ten 26, and the staffer offered me a sample. Delicious! The packaging says Santa Barbara on the front and Santa Monica on the back because one sister behind the business lives in one city, and the other sister in the other.
••• The Independent profiles the Daisy on State Street. If you haven’t been yet, and you should, try the smoked fish plate.
••• Come May, Scarlett Begonia will move from its current location at the courtyard inside Victoria Court to 21 W. Victoria St., just down the block. Restaurant Guy says it was formerly the site of Locavore Kitchen.
••• Sunshine Café on State Street in San Roque has stopped serving dinner, and now only serves breakfast and lunch. —Restaurant Guy
••• Bree’osh on Coast Village Road now makes baguettes in full and half size. I haven’t tried one yet, but they certainly look worthwhile.
