Site is great, enjoy the local coverage and your jaunts. Also based on that anecdote I’d just turn off comments entirely, nothing of value would be lost.
Love your newsletter! It’s great!!! Please keep writing and sharing! I so appreciate your candor and insight and humor! 😊
And the winner this year in the category of "Commenter who can turn any Siteline post into a right-wing talking point" goes to.... Christine!
And I would also like to personally thank Christine! for her excellent investment advice - please see her comment posted 3/2/2025 when she confidently claimed "Now is the time to invest in Sable stock!" (Sable Oil is down 69% since that date thru yesterday).
Awkward pastry (Ventura)! Just ordered her 8-10 person coffee cake for Christmas and it was a HUGE hit. So good!!
Thanks so much for all your hard work in putting together Siteline. Love the combination of local news, real estate and restaurant info! Comment section has definitely heated up in the last year but hey it’s the internet…Happy new year and again thanks for one of my favorite “sites”.
Agree ……the cinnamon raisin bread in Oat Bakery is good. I’d like to add pecans rather than walnuts though. Pain D’avignon in Chatham MA has one like that. It’s amazing! Also ….. trying to score bread at Oat Bakery before Cmas was an huge ordeal. Ran out in Goleta, and Montecito …. huge lines in town.
Birthday cakes are super from Jeanine’s, especially the Chocolate Heaven !
Thank you Erik I love your newsletter! I’d continue to include ideas for how to improve some of the quirks you call out at properties or restaurants so it’s helpful vs. just negative. Also lots of interesting changes coming to residential permitting process next year could be interesting to include as a profile. Keep up the great work!
Fascinating to get a peek behind the curtain. Thank you for being candid and vulnerable, and for all you do. I speak for many others when I say this site is Santa Barbara culture core. It feels both necessary and like a decadent treat. Can’t wait to see where you go from here.
Siteline is our “go to” for all things interesting happening in town. We love your commentary as well. Keep up the great work Erik!!
The wine cake at Pierre Lafond is sublime.
I absolutely agree with this and thank you, Ken, for 'saying' it...and thank you, Erik, for all of the work! We do realize that it's extremely labor-intensive.
Makes a great babka which is a coffee cake to me… https://www.doughbydoug.com/
You can order online and he’s at: at DEUX Bakery 824 Reddick Street.
Love the website and newsletter. Thanks for all you do. Keep it up!
Keep it up Erik! Happy New Year!
P.s. let me know if you find out how to keep everyone happy . . .
Nobody can get thru a month (if that long) without disappointing people. People's expectations are unrealistic, and often unwarranted.
The site is great, thanks for doing it.
Number 1 story is Ellen and her wifie dumping the US because of TDS? HAHAHAHAHA! Please post the current Ellen photo of her 3 stooges Moe cut- I dare you!
I agree Rich. I’ve found out about so many great dishes at restaurants that Erik has highlighted. If you don’t enjoy a restaurant, just don’t review it. Little Mountain and Tamar are my new faves thanks to hearing about them on this site.
Please keep doing your restaurant reviews! I suppose you could just not cover the bad experiences, so it becomes more about highlighting great places to eat locally than "reviewing" per se.
Exactly, Producing here is far more environmentally friendly (as a whole) than just importing your energy from somewhere else (tankers from international sources).
Do you mean that you prefer to produce in an environment that you don't live in? one that has no oversight and will with no doubt be produced with less safety and environmental oversight, so it will pollute more and kill more wildlife and people, but since it's not in your backyard, it doesn't matter? that is a narrow view of the world and definitely not better for the planet.
Not the case here. Even in this small discussion forum, it's important not to exist inside an echo chamber. You have an opinion and that's great, but to call others right wing hawks and fanatics isn't fair. We just have a different opinion than you.
Right on!
I agree. It got a bit ‘ funky’ when the stuffed ones were sodden and falling apart. Carry on 🐸🐸
Not especially surprised that my favorite watering spots aren't on the Happy Hour site, but then again, they don't need to promote themselves?
