Hopefully SB follows Ventura’s decision.
You may want to check the spelling in the bit about the charging stations... which reads "...at the corner of Chalapa and Carrillo". Is Chalapa near Chalupa?
Hopefully SB doesn't follow Ventura's decision.
Man I hope someone builds nice condos/apartments at 35 Anacapa. Talk about a GOOD place to cram some housing. It’d be a great spot to live and add to the neighborhood.
Huge news from Ventura, kudos to their council for standing up for their pedestrianized street! 6-1 vote is impressive.
Edit to 2nd paragraph *for their lack of skill and efficiency - this refers to the city and state administrations lack of skill and efficiency, not the firefighters.
Horrid article from la times. They put out great piece a few weeks ago thayt does not teeter into the typical bleeding heart, misanthropic, self loathing BS and there’s no climate non sequitur. It’s a very focused and precise article, and it is spot on. https://www.latimes.com/environment/newsletter/2025-08-28/boiling-point-the-myth-keeping-wildfires-alive Now this most recent article about not having any vegetation within 5 feet of the roof, it's just coping and virtue signaling for their lack of skill and efficiency. They want to Change the subject. Why they would say clear brush 5 feet around House, like that's the magic cure-all for fire, and the house is not burning down. 9 months after the Palisades Fire, let’s reflect on the events even if they wish they’d be forgotten. The state of California failed to conduct brush clearance in Topanga State Park, a significant factor in the severity of the fire. Additionally, a fire in the park 6 days prior to the Palisades Fire was declared out but was left unmonitored during a major wind event. what? WHO would not monitor a fire with the winds. Despite forecasts of high winds, minimal resources were deployed in the Los Angeles area, with the nearest support stationed in Santa Clarita—and even those were inadequate. The investigation into the fire’s cause remains 'inconclusive', with no clear evidence reported. But obv many believe the Palisades Fire was likely a rekindle from the earlier fire, possibly sparked by smoldering roots or debris. Yes, the winds were strong, especially in the foothills by Pasadena, but if you look at the winds and the videos of the Palisades fire, and the recorded winds charted...the highest Gust that was 38 miles an hour on day 1. Yes, big winds, but not so big that fire department should not even in there defending these homes. They tell you to evacuate, don't send any firefighters in, and let the homes burn down. But YEAH... clear 5 feet around the house. Thats the deal What they tell you is if you got a pool, you should have a pump like Mark 3 or somthing, gated wye and some hose. If there's a fire spray paint that there's a hose at the pool before you evacuate so firefighters know that you have water. If you think what happened to the Palisades is not 100% possible in Santa Barbara, and the behavior that they fight fire with and how horrible they're making the rebuilding process… You are not paying attention. Take a look at skofield park (with Gibraltar rd right above it) rattlesnake canyon mission cyn and all that. We have city governments whose only job after disaster like this is to deny, deflect and delay. hoping people give up This is what they're doing in the Palisades, and this is what they would do here. Oh and the eaton fire... They said the investigation will take 12 to 18 months for an obvious SCE powerline fire. This delays all lawsuits and makes living unbearable for people that have no resources right now. and 70% of all sales so far are from foreigners mostly in mainland china.
The best page on Instagram is CARTNARCS- the guy who hummilates losers who can't return their carts at the grocery store. I stopped using the YOU MUST BE A BIDEN VOTER when people just randomly left their carts in handicapped parking spaces/next to another car- twice in Buellton I had people come UNGLUED when called out - always immediatley defending their actions as they things to do vs just putting the damn cart back where it belongs.....of one of those 2 times a guy had a female and a young child in the vehicle- tried to ram me in the parking lot #coexist and always put your cart back, it is there for your CONVENIENCE for pete's sake!

The Pad isn't the first full-scale climbing gym in SB. theSanta Barbara Rock Gym on State Street has been the only climbing gym in town for 12 years.
The parking photos made me laugh out loud! Thanks for the silliness! We don’t know what others motivations are, but we can certainly make light (or dark) of the results.

Just park in the bike lane. Amazon will show you how to do it, if you are unsure. The valet attendants at Lucky’s are professionals — they double park in the bike lane for hours!
Giving the Handicap parker a pass IF they actually HAD a permit. Perhaps the handicapped person is on the passenger side which would explain their needing more room to exit the vehicle. However, it is usually an able bodied person who cheats and this IS Montecito after all.
This post doesn't increase my hope for humankind. I was driving home to SB from Agoura Hills today, and the other drivers on the 101 were insufferable. Ok, end of rant..
And if you put on your four-way emergency flashers, you can just park anywhere!
We need a future Burning Questions post about what the M and arch on the crest represent 😂
The market has definitely cooled and the amount of water that Hope Ranch property consumes should be illegal!

It's amazing places like Earl Warren showgrounds want to do a massive remodel and spend so much money. These all seem like top signals where people are blowing so much money on construction everywhere and then the rug just gets pulled out under everyone. Also, shocking for the city to be so broke yet to have construction going on everywhere. Makes no sense. But they are working on passing a bill that a six story apartment building can be built on any SR one light within a half a mile of a bus stop. That just continues to degrade all common sense so you're single family home next-door can demo and build a six story apartment building. Ridiculous. Senate Bill 79, authored by San Francisco Democrat Sen. Scott Wiener, would “upzone” neighborhoods immediately surrounding train, light rail and subway stations in many of the state’s most populous metro areas. That means apartment developers will be able to construct residential buildings — some as tall as 75 feet — regardless of what local zoning maps, elected officials or density-averse neighbors say. Not sure it's this exact bill, but the guys name from San Francisco is appropriate. I mean, instead of shoving more people in areas that are fully… Full. Hate to say it but start developing the coast line to solving. Of course you won't open areas but we don't want to live on top of each other to preserve these areas. So sorry.
Not too long ago, State Street had many thrift stores like these. That was when State Street was very vibrant and fun. I would much rather have them than chain stores or empty spaces that is for sure!
Agreed. Speed comes with focus. With the city’s strict building codes, it’s astounding that this design has gained any traction.
