Peaceful living space is essential. This article reminds me to avoid stack and pack multi-family units, to never share a wall, and to seek an acre or more for distance from inconsiderate others. Occupied ADUs built right up to the contiguous neighbor's border pose a similar problem. WHY no demand from locals to City or County of Santa Barbara officials to push back?

My sister and her friends came to town and they stayed at the El Encanto. They were all very happy with every aspect, the rooms, the service, the food, the grounds, the view, ... It is far from "soulless".
We ate at Sevtap a few days before they closed their doors. The owner said they will be doing some pop ups around town. So please keep your eyes open for them and let’s show them our support. They are a wonderful family!
At least the noise is only 1/8 of the time.??? What if my regular neighbour is noisy or has a vacation home he and his friends are using?

Hi there! Thanks for the shout out on Rancho La Paloma in the foothills! Please feel comforted in knowing that the carpeting in the house is brand new! (no clippings for you to worry about!) Also, the @4 acre parcel extends all the way to the lane and is not a flag lot. There is so much room to expand the possibilities for a country lifestyle conveniently close to town. Zoned one acre and allows horses. Thanks!

Look at the property on google earth and then compare that to the hotel’s plans. There’s nothing more “unnatural” about the hotel than the current land use. In fact, it actually looks more natural. Smaller footprint + they’ll restore habit and create new public trails
If you oppose the hotel, then for consistency sake, I assume you’re also fighting to remove the driving range and farms which already displaced native habitat and probably use tons of fertilizer.
I was born in California and spent the first 18 years of my life here, which I'm pretty sure qualifies me as a native. As for the bluffs, the fair thing to do would have been to change the zoning a long time ago.
