Sorry about that. I could've sworn I read that Paso Robles was included.
Erik, I think you jumped the gun on First Aid Kit opening for Lord Huron in Paso Robles. I have been wanting to see First Aid Kit for years, so I was excited when I saw your post. But First Aid Kit is not listed as an opening act on the Vina Robles website. I also checked the Lord Huron website and First Aid Kit website. Alas, it looks like First Aid Kit doesn't join the tour until they hit the midwest in August.
Well- it is a bribe. Using our tax dollars. So I’m fine calling it what it is, a bribe. Good luck to those in the program!
“Hospital enthusiast Huguette Clark” ?
Had dinner last night at Bedda Mia (after seeing the Van Gogh Exhibition @SBMA). Sat outside in the "street patio" - - good waiter but waited a long time, as mess up with the order, so they smartly provided a second glass of wine since we waited so long for our escarole salad (very good); pasta with a lamb ragu (very nice) and veal scallopini with mushrooms (tasty but probably wouldn't order again). Need to explore more of the menu, as a half Sicilian - esp the more typical dishes with raisans, breadcrumbs... and of course seafood is very typical of Sicily...did it transport me back to Sicily? No - but it was fun watching the state street action and SAT night in downtown SB was crazy ! A mardi gras parade... etc. What covid???
Arnoldi’s Cafe :)
I always wonder, when I hear of Riven Rock, if the old McCormick estate is still there or if it was torn down. TC Boyle wrote a book, aptly titled Riven Rock, about that whole saga but it’s been a long time since I read it. Interesting little tid-bit about local history.
For 15 million you get to eat formal meals in your family room? New lows.
Thanks, Christine, good to know! I need to get back up there for a visit.

I agree with everyone. I would like to find some way to encourage people not to post or take pics at the springs. I enjoyed the springs at Ecotopia in Ojai and sigs all around let people know that the space was sacred and not a place where photos or drinking were allowed. We should do the same in SB.
Zebras galore remain- was up in San Simeon 2 weeks ago. When I go, I take my own food✔️

This whole post had me laughing out loud quite a few times. Especially the note about Native American actors improv, ha. I just read (Noozhawk, I think) that Hearst Castle will be opening again soon for tours. I thought of you and your husband. There were, in the 80’s & 90’s, Zebra grazing on a ranch beside highway 1 that I suspect are still there, too. I don’t know anything about the food scene up that way but I’m sure there are some good restaurants to be found. Thx much

Haven’t had a chance to see 815 Tye Street, but attended an open at 2428 Anacapa. The property looked great and felt really nice. There are many thoughtful details throughout, and the quality of workmanship was evident.
The stone-clad cottage is beautiful, don’t get me wrong. But I saw the kitchen and I can’t imagine paying $1.725 million for it. The market is insane these last couple of years. Guess I should have invested in real estate when I had the chance.
Fair enough-I suppose it’s also more about population growth, as well.
I grew up in Montecito and have lived (mostly) here for 50+ years. Hot Springs trail was never crowded until a few years ago, and it has nothing to do with the Royals. I agree with Erik, also Instagram (and geo tagging the location of the Hot Spring that make it look like some sort of aqua utopia) has been a major culprit for the overcrowding (especially from people from out of town looking to hike and take selfies in the Hot Spring). Do a search of the location and you will see, its a bummer. Not sure of the solution, but something needs to give.
I don't think we can pin this one on Harry and Meghan. The hot springs were essentially dead for years, because the water was being taken by nearby residents; when that changed in recent years as a result of legal action, the hot springs were reborn—and then people looking for outdoor activities during the pandemic discovered them in droves. (This is an oversimplification of the history but you get the idea.)
I was born at Cottage Hospital and have lived (mostly) here in SB my entire life. My father made it a point to introduce me and my brother to many of our beautiful hiking trails, which I’ve continued to explore well into adulthood, including Hot Springs. Riven Rock has always accommodated the parking lot overflow with few, if any issues. Well over 50 years, and there has never, best that I can recall, been an issue with parking, until Haz and Rachel moved into the neighborhood.
How come someone else’s dream home is your nightmare. What if they hated your house? It’s called freedom to build what you want hater
RE: 2428 Anacapa, 1) Your headline is a little deceptive. The way it reads, it would appear that the current rendition of the home is its 3rd flip attempt, which is not correct. Your lead-in should have read "In a third flip, this one located at 2428 Anacapa...". 2) I think that if you actually saw this property on the inside (it was open Thursday), you would have seen that it was totally and beautifully redone, and that the "Great Room", which flows to the island kitchen and the outdoor entertaining area quite nicely, actually works very well.
We tried Bedda Mia tonight, but it was a huge disappointment. We made a reservation on Open Table, and they seated us outside. We waited 20 mins, but no waiter came? The wait staff served us water, and we left a tip for them. We were so hungry, we had to leave! The menu was about $28 per pasta, $35 per main courses, and the wine ranged from $45-150 per bottle. Looked like an interesting menu!

Hospital vibes, indeed (815 Tye Rd). What is that thing? Lol
It has been open for a while now. I encourage you to go check it out.
Will they have gluten free and soy free options as well as vegan too? Need more places like this in Santa Barbaras
