Opening Date for Tina’s Pizza, the Bettina Spinoff in Carpinteria

••• Tina’s Pizza, the Bettina spinoff at the new Linden Square complex in Carpinteria, has set an opening date of May 22. (That’s still a ways away, so check Instagram before you start forming a line.) It isn’t a slice shop. You can expect the same style of pizza as at Bettina—naturally leavened crust, similar toppings—along with salads, meatballs, and some fried goodies. (Once Tina’s gets up and running, more will come, including grab-and-go sandwiches and salads, along with square pies and square slices.) The restaurant is counter-service, with takeout and delivery, and there are no reservations. Seating is at the 15 spots at Tina’s counter or at the tables shared by all Linden Square establishments. Something you won’t find at Bettina: a provisions shop with jars of Caesar and ranch dressing, canned tomatoes, tinned fish, Parmesan, pastas, chocolates, and other tasty tidbits. P.S. Tina’s should have its beer and wine license by then….

••• In other pizza news, chef David Rosner’s Rozzi Pizza, located between Seven Bar and Rodeo Room, soft-opens this Friday. Below: prosciutto, whipped ricotta, and fresh basil, available by the slice.

••• 805Foodie has updates on several forthcoming restaurants in Ojai, including… 1) Joplin’s at 715 E. Ojai Avenue, with “food, drinks, and rock & roll” from Dutchess chef/co-owner Saw Naing and Brittany Naing of Namari non-alcoholic amaro. 2) Ojai Mountain Farm, which is “both a regenerative-agriculture farm located somewhere in the Ojai Valley and a restaurant coming to Ojai’s historic Libbey Arcade. Owners include Tony Yanow, formerly of Golden Road Brewing and now of the Ojai Pub.” 3) The big news in town, of course, is the Hotel El Roblar: “The hotel and La Cocina [breakfast and lunch for guests only, at least to start] are targeted to open in mid June, with the Condor Bar [open to all for dinner] following in early July.” Indeed, the hotel is taking room reservations starting June 12.

Do you know what is going into the former bank next to Vons at Montecito Country Mart? Also, looks like the outdoor sitting areas are finally being added to the shops on south side. Will this new seating area be built out all the way down to the Starbucks location from the Japanese restaurant above?

NY or not I’m so stoked to see what appears to be a legit slice joint on that side of State St. I’m highly critical of pizza and that photo and the ones online look fantastic.

Rozzi’s pizza wants us to believe that it is NY Pizza. So sorry Rozzi, your crust is much too thick for NY pizza. Thinner, please.

Traditional should be thin but bending down the middle will hold up.
Worked at Michael Anthonys back in the day and eaten a lot of pizza in NY.
Of course if the flavor is there really doesn’t matter.

Hi. Looking for aplace where I can pick up roasted turkey — not a sandwich, just a take out. Many years ago used to pick this up at a HofBrau.
thanks for your help

Last week an opportunity presented itself to visit the Starbucks on Milpas Street and Gutierrez. What a nice shop! Highly recommend.
