Studio Is Gearing Up to Open in the Funk Zone

••• Two updates about XO Burger: 1) In case you missed it, Acme Hospitality confirmed that Tyger Tyger is unlikely to return, and said that XO Burger “will probably last through February,” with more news (a move elsewhere?) forthcoming; 2) I went and tried it. The burger was delicious, and I loved the black garlic aioli as an accompaniment to the fries. But my order took 30 minutes, which is a long time to wait for anything, but especially fast food. Let’s hope it was a one-off glitch.

••• In a recent instagram post, Studio said you should text 805-303-5984 “for details and early access.” (It’s the place offering “experiments in liquid, light & sound” in the Funk Zone.)

••• From Bossie’s Kitchen: “We’re excited to share with you our second Outstanding in the Field dinner will be on Sunday, February 6, at Dos Pueblos Orchid Farm in Goleta! As always, chef Lauren Herman’s menu will highlight seasonal, locally sourced organic ingredients grown by small family farms. Tickets are $365.

••• Jules Coast Caviar on Coast Village Road has closed; it opened in January.

••• Scarlett Begonia has paused happy hour and dinner service. A reader who tried to go the other night was told that the chef had quit.

••• Eleven14 in La Arcada has added a game room next door. I thought it was just a temporary use of empty space, but I was told that it’s meant to be permanent, and the restaurant has rebranded from Eleven14 Craft House & Kitchen to Eleven14 Sports Bar & Games. Evidently, there are now pool tables upstairs.
