Seems like a sudden close for Neighborhood bar right? Or was it in the works? Have you heard any updates about the owners of Seven Bar doing something else?
Dude who owns Juice Ranch has lost his goddamn mind. Full-on antivax, trump loving Q-shaman. His instagram is psychotic. Had to stop giving this place business around the 2020 election because of the wild stuff he was sharing.
The staff quarters bit was a joke about that type of house being built in the far fancier context of Montecito. As for the mobile home comparison, if considering some kinds of architecture to be better than others makes me an elitist, I’m guilty as charged. I certainly don’t believe people who live in mobile homes are lesser than people who live in mansions.
You say 1231 East Valley Rd looks like a 'mobile home' and 'maybe somebody can use it for staff quarters'. My, what an elitist slur.
"4599 Camino Del Mirasol ($2.795 million): Is moving the pile of towels really too much to ask?" They could have asked $3.1mil if they'd merely cleaned the damn place. Sheesh.
$400/person to eat Bettina pizza? It's good pizza, but... come on.

Started visiting Here's the Scoop when it was downstairs. Was impressed it kept going there. Last most recent visit indicated that things were not great. Missing flavors and a few looked too glossy- indications of on display too long. Sad departure.
Hello, thank you so much for all the work you put into discovering this mystery. I saw the shoe for the first time today, though I have been driving by there twice weekly for several months. Keeping my eyes on the road I guess! It is very fun to know it started as a discard on Toro Canyon!
It's in escrow: https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/15550-Calle-Real_Gaviota_CA_93117_M94101-20469
Really ….??‍♀️ … I hope that doesn’t mean the whole family is moving here too. The neighborhood is definitely going down
serving on a long ass table seems like such a nightmare, and it seems they always have it at a windy spot
do we know what has become of the Bruce Brown “Endless Summer” aka Camp Brown place on the Gaviota Coast? Lot’s of interest, then it disappeared off all sites/advertising. Thx
Noted! Although I suspect that for some people the allure of MUS has as much to do with social prestige as it does the quality of the education.
Erik, while I agree with your comments on the East Valley Road property, that 'mobile home' is located in the #1 school district in the state (Cold Spring School). As a resident of SB and the Founder of a real estate focused website (which we all enjoy), you should know that CSS has ranked higher than MUS for years so not being in that district can be a good thing.......
Really sad to hear that Here's the Scoop has closed. :-(
We had the worst experience at Outstanding in the Field; nothing outstanding about it! Such a shame as we were so excited!! :(
The new menu looks excellent!
I see no reason it wouldn't be. Always remember, folks, that word of a lease being signed doesn't mean the tenant will open anytime soon.
Is UCLA Health still planning to move in to 111 E. Victoria St?
Here's some info from July 2021 about the plan, and I would assume nothing has changed—everything in Santa Barbara just takes forever. https://www.sitelinesb.com/attractive-revamp-of-a-downtown-commercial-space/.
Hi, I’ve been curious about what’s going on at the corner of Chapala and Haley where Happy Shop used to be. It’s been cac t for a couple of years now. Thanks in advance for any info you may have!
For some, a haunted place to stay is a selling point. Not for me, however.
With regard to the neon sign, might Montecito have a protocol for declaring something to be historically significant? The reason I mention it, is that I raised this issue with the city of SB over the "Joe's Cafe" neon sign in the 500 block of State St. In SB, that sign meets the first prerequisite - must be at least 50 years old. The city official I spoke with said if someone were to nominate the Joe's sign, it's quite possible that sign would be declared historically significant due to its uniqueness.
Could not agree more! Save that sign!!!
