Any updates on We Want the Funk, new Seven Bar location, or Aloha Center opening?
Yeah in my opinion their complaints carry little weight. Get salads there every once in awhile but entire place needed an update.
The Westside, please. A great place to walk. Santa Barbara’s quiet forgotten neighborhood. Our house was built in the 1860s and there’s a Victorian farmhouse on nearly every block. The old timers still living in the neighborhood can tell you lots if history.
How come the other restaurants on that same block as Natural cafe are always packed, but Natural Cafe is a ghost town? Do the skateboarders magically not affect them? Or is it because Natural Cafe serves boring cafeteria food and that location looks like it hasn’t been dusted or painted since the 70’s?
Yes, he is! I love our unique to SB signs. Many thanks to your hubby.
You’re so right, LD! Thank you for the reminder.
Ballard Inn is where all the kids used to take their prom dates, in the 80’s. It was fancy, back then, lol.
Padaro Rd is “over”? There’s currently a compound there on sale for $109 ***million*** dollars. The only time Padaro will ever be “over” is if it is taken by sea erosion.
I haven’t gotten around to those parts of town yet….
Thanks. We were in these places with Neal Graffy on tour with Historical Museum. Do you have pictures for Riviera and Mission area?
It was nice seeing the sign/scroll work in El Paso! My husband has done beautiful hand painted work through out the El Paso and Santa Barbara for over 50 years. I have always admired the way he is able to design so many signs for Santa Barbara, David Benton is one talented man!
awesome- loved driving my van full of girls to SB High for 6 am waterpolo practices- walked these same paths to fill my time before picking them up at 8 with smoothies
I first saw the Red Shoe on the Mesa on Shoreline Drive in front of a house on their lawn across from Shoreline Park it disappeared and then the next time we saw the shoe it was in the same Field it is currently in next to the 101 hwy
First time staying at Ballard Inn and not impressed. If you're going to the expense of a remodel, do it right. Rooms are OK but not 4 star

I was there on a slow Sunday a few months back seating at the bar with a friend. We asked for a game to be put on the TV they have behind the bar and bartenders were very accommodating and did so. 20 minutes later the owner walks in and turns the TV to a screen saver. Bartenders told him we were watching the game and his response was we don't show sports here. Felt very welcoming. My buddy closed our tab right away and we left. Not planning to go back anytime soon.
This 3% fee is part of doing business. If they don't want to incur such cost then run a cash only business like some places here in town do. Passing this dumb fee to the customers in times where the price of everything is going up is absurd. There are places where they are automatically adding 20% gratuity to a check(I'm looking at you Sama Sama) to subsidize for the lower wages they're paying their employees is insulting. Or every walk up counter or take out order expecting a 15%-20% gratuity- I grew up working in food & services industry and I've always been a 20% tipper but when a service is provided. I should not be asked for a 20% tip for having to walk up or call in my order and make my way to pick up my meal. With all these price increases in restaurants due to high inflation we are experiencing and once inflation is under control and cost of food and gas goes comes down-do any of you think the restaurants will be reducing their prices? I know they're not, so even though we are all being affected by inflation the restaurants margin will increase once things turn the corner and us the customer will be stuck paying $40 entrees and $16 drinks.
Re: NP - typo meant to say “at least *no longer retaining*” that physical property.
Could not agree more! This is hands down my favorite area in town. Extremely thorough profile, ha. I also agree with your thoughts on the News Press. I would love to see a mixed-use development and some further outdoor areas to tie into DLG plaza. With the news the NP is discontinuing daily delivery it seems we might be inching closer to it shuttering or at least retaining that prime location and lot. Lutah Maria Riggs had proposed plans for DLG that are far more inviting than what we have now. They were published in a book I purchased a copy of. I hope the dreaded splash pad isn’t happening.
Wow! That’s is just about the most comprehensive look at the Presidio Neighborhood that I’ve ever seen. Great photos and research!
I love this place too. My doctor is here. It's so nice to visit.
I'm done I can't stand that family the smell evil n evil is here....
oh please- do a bit of research. They are ridiculous, not stupid. Padaro Lane has been over for years- a classmate was a private chef for a family of 4 for a year, she slept in all their beds, wore the mother’s clothing and threw huge parties for the SBCC HRC students while they vacationed. All that and shared a jack/jill apartment w/Paul Tuttle. Good times
No kidding. Kylie's jet has been known to take trips that last all of 3 minutes. She uses her jet in Southern California to go between locations like Van Nuys and Camarillo. https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/stephaniesoteriou/kylie-jenner-climate-criminal-private-jet
Totally agree with your commentary re: the kids on e-bikes.
Yes, last November: https://www.sitelinesb.com/former-mount-calvary-monastery-sells-for-half-off-the-original-ask/. The buyer was an LLC called The Mission.
