I agree!!
Before you condemn any new business stop in and give it a try. You might be surprised!
The city's purchase of 222 E Anapamu makes a lot of sense, really. Half of the police department works out of that space. This should allow better interaction/integration with the police building at 215 E Figueroa, at least until the new station is built.
Wexler’s is soooo delicious and this is such great news! Can’t wait for this to open!!!
Hi all! To give the full story… The giant stiletto was created by my friends husband to celebrate his wife’s birthday… Sadly, they had to miss it and then she was never used so about five years later, he put it on the side of the road to be picked up by the trash collectors! Thank God, it was resurrected, and now has become a Fun icon! FYI that she was going right now because she is going to be celebrating another birthday and we got permission to borrow it repainted and put it back in great condition to last many more years!
Like Erik, I don't eat red meat often but I can't wait for this!
More hotels are planned for SB? Lodging taxes in St. Louis are 18%, Houston is 17%. Santa Barbara is 12%. Where would you rather be? Tourism restricts local access to amenities/beaches/parks/infrastructure. Locals also feel the brunt of higher prices. A City imposed revenue stream that isn’t from local homeowner permits/fees/taxes would be welcome relief! IT’S TIME.
All they have to do is add a similar quality veggie sandwich for me and then there will be something for everyone. Or, I'll bring my home grown micro greens to put on top. Mostly, I loved that someone wrote, "every new business is someone's dream." Time to celebrate everything that we can.
Welcome Wexler’s to the Public Market !
It will be a great addition to the Market, the Public Market just keeps getting better since the new owners have taken over !
It is fabulous to learn that these people are bringing their very good act to town. I'm many things - given my past in New York and Santa Monica - but this was the first place I lived that has had no vague resemblance of a legitimate deli. For years now, I have depended on Brent's in Westlake - 50 miles from here - for my fix. Once I met its owner in the men's room there, and told him to open a branch in Santa Barbara. He rolled his eyes and said: "No thank you!" Well too bad, but am pleased that I'll be able to thank Wexler's --
Actually south west would be in the ocean
Gwynnie is doing a deal with Airbnb. And I'm sure her vacation rental/promotion will be merchandised with lots of her snake oil (with QR codes to simplify the purchase process).
The NYT article “What Is It About Montecito?” had several geographical errors, one of which remains (8/5/2023):
"on the southern edge of Santa Barbara: Montecito."
It is not possible for Montecito to be on the southern edge of Santa Barbara because it would be in the Pacific Ocean.
I'll be there often!!
Sorry to see Dirt go. I had been following them even before the Dirt days, when it was Yo Mamma's hysterically funny blog.
Welcome to great pastrami sandwiches. Grew up eating at restaurants like the 2nd Avenue Deli and Katz in NYC. No longer living in SB but will surely go to Wexler when I visit. Sounds delicious, can’t wait!????
I think it will be interesting. That motel is so early 60's. Its time it gets a facelift & some interest. I dislike grey (overdone to death) but this could bring something exciting to the hood!
I wouldn't worry. There are plenty of old Jews and Jewphiles like me in town who will be lining up for this grub.
It is one of the most beautiful places in SB. I for one, will be thrilled when they reopen.
Interesting how after 3 years of "furlough" and 2 years of radio silence from Four Seasons to it's employees, that they release this statement...also VERY CONVENIENT that this is just days before the mediation was set to begin for employees seeking their owed severance. I have any zero confidence this "renewed partnership" will actual happen between FS and TYW.
Good news
I do not eat red meat. Any turkey pastrami?
Matzo Ball Soup? B& W cookies, and my favorite Kasha knishes.
When will you be opening? I’ll be there.
Didn’t grow up in NY and love hot pastrami sandwiches. Langer’s and Canter’s were my fave growing up in LA.
Perfect..another LA business comes in and puts a local out of business and all people care about is a sandwich. SMH..so sad. I miss my town.
