Erewhon to Open in Thousand Oaks Next Month

••• Conejo Valley Guide says that an Erewhon store will debut sometime in August at The Lakes at Thousand Oaks (just this side of Westlake Village, so around 15 minutes closer to here). And no, there’s still no word on whether the chain has found a suitable location around here.

••• The Ellwood has launched Woody’s Pierside Bar & Grill, a snack shack selling “burgers, hot dogs, salads, and snacks” to-go on Mondays and Tuesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.—Independent

••• “It’s official: Raising Cane’sUrbane Cafe and El Pollo Loco are all coming to Goleta” at Hollister Village Plaza (the one with Smart & Final and CVS). —Noozhawk

••• I’m not a huge dessert guy, but if there’s one restaurant where I always save room, it’s Merci. The other night, the three of us had the reliably wonderful chocolate soufflé with espresso cream, along with delectable s’more ice cream (made with homemade graham crackers and marshmallows), and an amazing deconstructed Pavolva with Baby Crawford peach—i.e., the $10-per-pound ones at the farmers’ market—at the center. And we left wishing we had gotten the frozen crème brûlée, too.
