When a Night at the San Ysidro Ranch Cost All of $119…

••• Inspired by the Montecito Journal‘s recent profile, I visited Airplant Alchemy in Carpinteria. The airplanes are otherworldly and often very beautiful. Highly recommended for anyone who likes plants.

••• From the Montecito Board of Architectural Review: “You can now watch the Montecito Architectural Review meetings on YouTube [live or archived]. This will be the permanent link to the YouTube channel. The Zoom feature is also available if you would like to participate in the meeting.”

••• From MarBorg Industries: “In an effort to follow the State CalRecycle guidelines to implement waste reduction and recycling programs while maintaining health and safety protocols, MarBorg Industries will be resuming regular operations at their Santa Barbara and Goleta Recycling Centers on Monday, August 3.” Here’s the list of materials being accepted.

••• “Hot tip,” says a reader in regard to the possibility of the Super 8 motel in Goleta being turned into housing for the homeless. “The Super 8 went with a different offer but if it falls through it still might accept the city’s offer!”

••• Thanks too S. for sending in this nifty blast from the past from the San Ysidro Ranch. The rate of $119 per night is a shock, of course, but maybe not as much as the general tone of the letter.
