Under the Tuscan Spell

Looking at Montecito real estate, you might conclude that an awful lot of people never got over that trip to Tuscany they took in the 1990s. The estates they subsequently built here tend to blur together after a while. One, named Prima Luce (First Light), has just come on the market—make that back on the market, having first had a go in 2014 at $23.5 million. (Now it’s $14.9 million.) According to past news reports, the owner is Rhonda Byrne, author of The Secret. If anyone can actualize a sale into happening….

From the listing: “This 2.5-acre Tuscan estate was created by designer Robert Webb and captures unobstructed vistas of the Pacific. Past the motor court, enter the 8,425-square-foot main residence to find a kitchen with chef’s caliber appliances, 5 bedrooms, 6 full baths, 2 powder rooms and 5 fireplaces.” That’s one big kitchen! (Grammar joke.)

The master bedroom is definitely a highlight, even if it could use a chandelierectomy. And we don’t get to see the bath, which raises some concern.

Back to the listing: “In the back of the property, steps lead from the stone terrace down to a spacious pool deck.”

“Elsewhere on the property are a pair of 3-car garages, a 7-hole putting green, a 2-story play cottage and a 1-bedroom guest house.” I think this is the guest house, but you never know—it could be the play cottage.

If size is all that matters to you, you might be happier at nearby 765 Rockbridge (18,671 square feet on 5.38 acres for $16.975 million). But this is far more tasteful.
