The Supergroovy “Castle in the Sky” Is Now Well Under $2 Million

The “grooviest house in greater Santa Barbara,” at least as far as I know, got pricechopped to $1.7 million. The “castle in the sky” at 1230 Toro Canyon Road (↓$495K) is “absolutely epic,” as one reader commented back when the house came on the market. Check out the photos.

Dated interiors seem to be hurting 1147 Glenview Road (↓$450K), which has now been for sale for 469 days. The Pepper Hill location is pretty great, though, and 7,671 square feet is nothing to sneeze at. Plus: Check out the shape of the pool.

The 1998 Craftsman house—with a 1898 duplex—at 1232 Laguna Street (↓$120K) has been thoroughly renovated, and according to the listing, it was used in the filming of My Favorite Martian. The interiors are fresh and appealing, with one exception. The price is now $2.375 million.

Perhaps now that it’s $1.775 million, the midcentury four-bedroom at 229 La Jolla Drive (↓$70K), in the Mesa and right near the Douglas Family Preserve, will find a buyer. It sure photographs well.

Meanwhile, back in the Upper East, the terrific 1911 Craftsman at 340 E. Los Olivos Street (↓$250K) still can’t find love. They don’t make interiors like that anymore, but maybe people are wary of living across from the Mission. The price is now $3.25 million.
