I was one of the poor fools that donated $500 and never was able to redeem my private dinner for 6.
Mozilo "can't enjoy his home?" People should remind him how many Americans lost their homes due to his ponzi scheme greed...how the world economy tanked due to his souless, heartless scam. He disgusts me.
Please do read up on Solvang’s infamous BACON & BRINE. What a crappy experience it was for most donaters- nobody got their promised “level of commitment” reward. Ended in flames -the restaurant did- I will NEVER donate to a budiness start up after watching friends try to redeem their donated funds issuance.
To be fair, Kickstarter donations above $10 get something for their money. I'm not saying there isn't a donation element, but it's not pure charity.
I was born and raised in Carpinteria and as a Carp local I am insulted that this for profit business is asking for community help. Thanks what banks are for! Or are you planning on donating part or all of your profits? That’s what’s wrong with this generation. They think their issues/problems are everyone else’s and they should get help just because they need it. Grow up and work a few more years and save enough money to take this project on yourself! Jeeez!
Carp local out.
Agreed; I find it rather audacious to use Kickstarter to launch their restaurant.
I am so curious why a family with no restaurant experience would take such a big risk? And at the same time asking the community for help in the process. The restaurant business is very risky when you have experience. I can’t imagine putting my life savings at risk trying to open a restaurant when my experience is being a farmer.
Either way I wish them luck and I hope the make it.

Isn't Michael Bollag the one that owns the entire mountain above Hendry's Beach off Las Positas?
THANK YOU SITELINE SB!
When you are lucky enough to get our chips and tortillas, you are eating a chip or tortilla that is actually has health benefits and made of non gmo corn. Here is why our Sweet Wheel Farms corn is incredibly expensive to produce:
When you farm without pesticides, you have to weed by hand and small machine. And, something unusual, we pay our farm workers a working wage! We mentor our Sweet Wheel cart educators about farming. EVERYONE does a day of hard labor in our fields so that there is understanding and empathy for the hard work that others accomplish. Our beautiful corn is selling for $55.00 a pound on the internet by other California companies. We just had over an acre of it go "missing" in north county, so you can gather how sought after this corn is. We use organic rice oil (over $20/ gallon) for our chips and pure mineral lime in our all of our tortillas. Want to take a class on nixtamalization? Contact us at [email protected]
Thank you for your support of our brand!
It was.
I remember when Something's Fishy was in Santa Barbara's Piccadilly Square! #FeelingOld
I'm pretty sure Hibachi was fka Something's Fishy, might have predated your SB arrival :)
So looks like it is going back to what it was
Chris Sneddon reported that work to establish the Dorinda Triangle Park will begin in November (presumably 2021). No report on the leaning tower of porta potty.
Re: El encanto...Little known fact - check out the Bar menu when dining at the restaurant. Avocado fries are very good. Burger is solid, and I've always enjoyed their Caesar (although haven't had the new iteration since the new chef took over)...Yes it's supposed to be fine dining, but hey, you like what you like, and as the writer said, the food is typical of a hotel, and nothing beats a good burger. The Ramen is delicious, BUT it's noodles and cabbage,...nothing more, which was a disappointment. I'd order it again, but request salmon or poached egg, ect...
Sun sushi, in the rose garden inn parking lot
Another excellent choice!
Your review is consistent with my recent experiences there. Love the property, and the staff are always helpful and friendly, but I actually feel that their new menu is a downgrade from their previous menu (brunch, lunch and dinner). I’d recommend sticking to sunset drinks or dessert :)
We went to Peasants Feast in Solvang for the first time. The mushroom tacos were a hit.
Thanks for the link to get a digital version and QR code of my vaccine record. Very helpful.
Funny you should say what you did about the El Encanto. Yes, the patio is magical but I had dinner there a couple months ago with a friend from La Jolla and neither of us was impressed with the menu or the food. You’re right... it just tasted blah. Such a shame.
Hope you followed up your Ostrichland visit up with lunch at Hitching Post- excellent steak sandwiches, beef and chicken salad options, tacos & burgers, wine and afternoon appetizers between lunch and dinner service
I think the writer was expecting "big chickens" akin to Big Bird instead of a dinosaur holdover. I have to say, though, when they get into a feeding frenzy...they do give one pause.
That article is bizarre. The ostriches are not even remotely scary.
hehe. "Feed This Bad Boy!"

The entire San Roque community is so excited for the possibility of a nice restaurant at the old Mackenzie Market location.
This message is for the new owners of the Mackenzie Market. I am a local business woman with a large following for my extensive supply of cheese. Would you be interested in leasing out all or part of this property for me to work out of..? I will try to contact you at one of your other businesses. I could sell my cheese and you can sell your catering?
