Presidio Guard House....
It is part of the painted signage on the wall of The Guard House
I am looking forward to seeing the house flippers in dire straights when the music stops. Forgotten is the fact that the Montecito market can be very challenging during normal times and unloading properties for twice what you paid 6 months prior isn't going to happen.
Still sad about Empty Bowl not making it at that location. Maybe should have used Empty Bowl name instead of new unfamiliar name?
Vandenberg has really changed!
There’s a pool and a spa
We enjoy your columns soooo much. Thx.
How about “freedom to comment”? Not likely a hater….just a critic expressing her truth.
Cheers!
That is so bizarre. My best friend lived in that building in mid 1970’s. We had graduated from UCSB and we were both waiting tables at 1129. Very creepy.
I agree! We need food diversity on Coast Village. I can dream along with you.
And don't forget Jeannine's down the street ... another bakery. Too many sandwich options on CVR . I would love to see a great ethnic restaurant there ( Oh Empty Bowl why did you leave ? ). Or wouldn't it be wonderful if a spot like " Industrial Eats " could open on CVR .... I know the prices are too high .... but I can dream.
Manson lived at 705 Bath St. Do a Google image search for Charles Manson driver's license.
this fish and I go waaaaaay back- have a great photo beside it taken after calamari piccata at The Chase, before Mr Anthony Bourdain at the Arlington- 2009?
Is it the fish outside The Fund for Santa Barbara & Hutton Foundation offices on 26 West Anapamu?
There are a few of them around town.
I liked the idea of an affordable option like Mesa Burger on Coast Village road. That location seemed too big and the style may have been too modern / industrial.
I thought Chuck lived somewhere on W Micheltorena…
Bummer! I love Lilac but we love our neighborhood Montecito Burger. Also is Lilac aware they'll be next door to Renaud's? Dueling bakeries, dueling croques...
fun fact: Charles Manson lived next door to the little corner store for a short spell back in the day.
Fabulous news! And a dinner menu is long overdue!
Properties never publicly offered for sale have individuals deciding the neighborhood.
Live-blog it!
Mission Canyon, both lower and upper, please!
There are more of those street markers! In the area around DLV near Pueblo and Los Olivos, you’ll even see ones with street names that are no longer.
And fyi, Ogle is the last name of the man who owns/owned that Brinkerhoff property.
I saw l construction going on at the old SB and Lafond winery location in the funk zone
Do you have an update ?
The vine in question is passion fruit. The fruits will darken to a reddish purple as they ripen. They do very well here even with neglect. We have several and are overwhelmed by fruit right now.
