State Street between the Arlington and Mission is very sleepy and underdeveloped in my opinion. I drive or walk it almost every day and it’s never not very sleepy. The Cantwell’s project seems like a good idea. The height feels a bit oppressive but the cost of construction probably demands it in order for it to make sense.
The obvious trolling is a really tired schtick already and you’ve only been doing it a few days. Give up and move on.
We are truly bless to be a sanctuary city that reject’s the racist beliefs of the stupid republitards. If this was Texas the rednecks would run these Mexican restaurants out of town and we’d have nothing to eat but Caucasian skinhead food such as fried chicken. We are proud of are intelligent local politicians such as Hannah Beth Jackson and Das Williams. They are visionaries and we must keep them in power to combat global warming and racism from the FoxNews watching skinheads
I’m thinking the old Old brewery with bocce spot (Pure Order). Says Haley Corridor not actually Haley.
Wow SB Democrat!!! I thought the Republicans were the only ones that had gone batsh*t crazy until I read your illiterate and ill informed post. Creating more density (especially residential) may be the only thing that can save our beautiful State Street.
So happy to see that Corazon Comedor will have breakfast: if the chilequiles are as good as the ones at their cafecito in the Public Market, can't wait!
Agree..Geez maybe go outside and get some fresh air!
“ Via Maestra 42 owners George and Nicole Bitar” His name is spelled with an s. Georges.
I sure hope this doesn't go the way RH's introduction into Aspen has gone. First the restaurant gallery, then residences and Bathhouse and Spa. None of which are complete and just sitting and slowly progressing. The fact that this once furniture store offers private jet, yacht, hotel and home services — think an American version of what some luxury brands do in Dubai... feels deeply wrong for Montecito. I think people should very cautiously watch RH and question their acquisitions locally.
The intersection of Cabrillo Boulevard and Los Patos Way will be a roundabout.
This is gonna be a tough spot for any retail. I assume this also means a traffic light will be installed at the intersection. And while, I don't look forward or have much need for high end boutiques, THIS would be a far better place for the RH store planned over the current location in the Upper Village.
Seven TVs. Oof. I miss the old Wine+Beer space all the food options from the Market, super interesting beer choices, and most importantly, no TVs.
Is the Mesa Cafe closed?

Just received a neighbor notice for a Thurs 1pm 4/6/23 planning Comm meeting. Have to see how the revisions compare. The 121 E Mason full block development is the next block to the West. Concerned that the two projects might end up under construction concurrently, but "SOMO" is hiding, the 2022 201 Garden design had the underground parking beginning at grade. Not I my view a smart decision with sea level rise in mind. This building should last 50 years - perhaps depending on a Cabrillo blvd tide/ storm wall.
Next to that new tasting room is LOU’S Los Olivos- a woman’s boutique.
Chiseling away at private property rights is a very bad idea.
Maybe stand over their then. ????
Okay - that bit about Poppy was confusing - I thought you meant the children’s store at the Montecito Country Mart - whew!
How is KEYT going to report on a Santa Barbara version of Monopoly without referencing the iconic and chaotic Santa Barbopoly board game from the 70’s/80’s? Still a few floating around on eBay ;)
Chill out Dan- it certainly isn’t rational to bulldoze everyones views in haste, due to guilt or lack of planning.
You do realize this town is in desperate need for housing, right? Times have changed.
Startled to see that the endearing neighborhood market (Cantwell's) is up for development. Anyone talk to the newly renovated Marriott Courtyard people about impinging on the city and ocean view from their spiffy rooftop spaces? Might go over like a lead balloon.... And why do we need a 4-story structure in the downtown grid? Seems that S.B. has worked pretty hard in the past 100+ years to prevent canyonization of downtown, which will ultimately obstruct everyone's views - one of the reasons we love living here.
How do they pay zero taxes? I want in on that.
