Onus Donuts Has Closed After Nine Months

••• I’m sorry to report that Onus Donuts has closed. It opened at 413 State Street (Haley/Gutierrez) in early December. “We will be changing concepts and back in another form,” says the farewell note. I’m not sure whether that means in the same storefront or with another model entirely.

••• The Drunken Crab‘s days appear to be numbered. The space at 416 State Street is being marketed as being available in November. UPDATE: I just heard from the restaurant that it isn’t closing, it’s relocating somewhere to be determined on State Street.

••• Insomnia Cookies opens tomorrow: “Until August 27, Insomnia is offering a free cookie if you come to their store at 430 State Street. There is also a free delivery code: FREE4SB.” —Restaurant Guy

••• Enthuisasm for Wingman Rodeo, which shares space with The Shop on Milpas. —Independent

••• Speaking of The Shop, the restaurant sold enough $5 canteens to be able to donate $1,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Barbara County. The goal is $10,000.

••• The Independent profiles Shroomi, a line of mushroom-based beverages founded by Santa Barbara’s Taylor Chavez Goggin.

••• The plastic Jersey barriers in front of La Sirena, the forthcoming restaurant at the newly renovated Cabrillo Pavilion on East Beach, were parted a bit, which I took as an invitation to peek into the windows. It’s not opening anytime soon.
