Major Upgrade in the Works for Dwight Murphy Field

The agenda for today’s meeting of the city’s Architectural Board of Review includes the renovation of Dwight Murphy Field, across from East Beach at 501 Ninos Drive. The project includes “conversion of an existing grass soccer field to artificial turf with new fencing and lighting, replacement of existing buildings with restrooms at a new location, and accessible pathways. Additional new amenities include a fitness area, youth baseball field, picnic areas, and a universally accessible playground. The project will also involve the conversion of Park Road to primarily one-way circulation with angled parking, and redesigned park entries.”

It looks like a massive improvement, judging from renderings supplied by the city’s Parks & Recreation Department and RRM Design Group (more plans are here). You can click on any image to enlarge it.
