Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi Just Dropped $70 Million on Padaro Lane

In August 2021, retired hedge-fund manager Bruce Kovner and his wife, Suzie, put their 22-acre oceanfront property, 2779 Padaro Lane, on the market for $160 million; it consisted of two houses, one older and one newer, on separate lots, along with three other vacant lots. At the time, the newer house, 2781 PADARO LANE (9,066 square feet on 3.44 acres) was also offered separately for $80 million. (UPDATE: See below.) Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi just paid $41.697 million for it, along with $28.25 million for one of the vacant lots (the 6.58-acre 2801 PADARO LANE). For the math adverse, that’s a total of $69.947 million. Could the couple have finally found their forever home? The house is by many accounts a beaut, and there’s potential to use the land (and the nearby beach access) for horses. I guess we’ll find out when/if their Ennisbrook hacienda comes on the market. P.S. This is the biggest residential sale in South County history. UPDATE: The $80 million option mentioned above was for the newer house and the adjacent vacant lot that DeGeneres and de Rossi also purchased.

Ellen seems like way too savvy of a business woman to settle at this Padaro property – just because it seems like there’s tons more $$$ to make there. I don’t intend to sound cynical…
