Burglaries at Beach Parking Lots and Trailheads

••• From an SBPD press release on Edhat: “Recently, there has been a rash of vehicle burglaries and theft from vehicles at the Arroyo Burro Beach Park (Hendry’s Beach) as well as other beachfront parking areas and trailheads. Police suspect professional crews are specifically targeting those areas due to high value opportunities.” As opposed to amateur thieves, who don’t do it for the money…?

••• BCycle, the company providing electric bikes for Santa Barbara’s bike-share program, assumed that its enrollment kiosks would have access to electricity, but they won’t, so now they plan on installing solar-powered kiosks that are nine feet tall. Why not just do it through phones, the wait scooter-rental apps work? —Noozhawk
