You’re Cordially Invited to a 1980s Party Palace

This weekend’s open-house lineup can be found at sbopenhouses.com, courtesy the Santa Barbara Association of Realtors. Here are four of the most intriguing ones:

Eighties aficionados won’t want to miss Casa Bene, as the 1984 house at 811 Camino Viejo Road on Eucalyptus Hill is called. The sinuous staircase is ready for your grand entrance, and the open-air party room is primed for good times. The next day, you can recover in style: “Down a garden path is a special treat… spa room and bath with Ocean and Mountain Views.” The house has been on the market for $8 million since June. / Open Sunday 1-4 p.m.

Midcentury types will be happier at 238 Miramar Avenue ($3.475 million) in Montecito. The 1964 house designed by Jack Warner looks like Slim Aarons could’ve shot there back in the day. Bring your contractor, though. / Open Saturday 2-4 p.m.

···················

While you’re in the Hedgerow, you might as well take a look at 210 Miramar Avenue ($4.2 million)—it’s guaranteed to be unlike anything you’ve seen before. In the 1980s, someone brought over two 1700s barns from England and combined them into a house. / Open Saturday 1-3 p.m. and Sunday 1-4 p.m.

···················

Don’t get your heart set on 1124 Harbor Hills Lane ($3.7 million)—it has gone pending. But things can change, and the house struck me as very solidly made (although they really should’ve put a third bath in). The photos and decor don’t do it justice. / Open Saturday and Sunday, 2:30-5 p.m.
