The Study Hall Bar in Isla Vista Has Closed

••• The Study Hall bar in Isla Vista has closed after 26 years. (Thanks to S. for the tip.) The announcement:

The Study Hall Isla Vista is officially closed. We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your decades of support! Thank you to our employees past and present for your hard work, dedication, and love. You will always be family to us. Most of all, a huge thank you to each and every customer who graced our doorstep. Since Dan established The Study Hall in 1995 and then opened the doors in 1996 we enjoyed sharing every laugh, every teardrop, and every questionable decision you made. We have enjoyed watching you all grow from college kids just figuring out your world to successful adults raising your own families now. Thank you for including us in your journey. Your support over these past 26 years has meant the world to us, and we can never fully express our gratitude for you. We cherish all the friendships and memories forged throughout the years. Although the IV location has closed, the spirit of The Hall lives on! We are still downtown at Omalleys upstairs and will be moving some of the plaques there so please stop by and say hi whenever you’re back in town. If you have any photos you would like to share of your Study Hall days please share them here. We would love to see them.

••• And Restaurant Guy says that Plaza Deli at La Cumbre Plaza has closed, too. It opened in 1984.

••• Perennial vegan pop-up Rascal’s signed a lease on a permanent space: the former home of Uncorked at 432A E. Haley (Laguna/Olive). There’s a Gofundme to help with expenses.

••• Dave’s Drip House, the Dave’s Dogs spinoff offering cereal and ice cream, could open as soon as January 15.

••• Kozy, promising “a modern coffee experience,” is opening at 6560 Pardall Road in Isla Vista.

VERY sad to hear about Plaza Deli. I was born here in 1973 and it’s been a staple and reliable spot.
