The Look of the Sprouts Store Opening on Milpas

••• I’m not sure whether these are new or not, but the agenda for last Monday’s meeting of the city’s Architectural Board of Review included drawings of the revamped shopping center at 29 S. Milpas (where Sprouts is opening in the old Trader Joe’s space).

••• Every weekend through December 22, the Santa Barbara Wine Collective in the Funk Zone is hosting a maker’s market, with “vintage clothing, leather goods, macrame gifts, handcrafted jewelry, games, gifts for furry friends, gift boxes and baskets, wine merch, and so much more!” It’s noon to 4 p.m.

••• From the city: “The Farmers Market and the City want to hear your ideas about the next location for the Saturday Farmers Market! What do you think are the key ingredients to a successful Farmers Market experience? Bring your ideas to a Listening Workshop at the Faulkner Gallery, 40 East Anapamu Street, on Saturday, December 7, from 3:00-4:30 p.m. Farmers will be present at the workshop to discuss minimum operational needs.” Perhaps determining a new location for the farmers’ market should’ve happened before the decision to move it….

••• From the Santa Barbara Zoo: “Meet our new additions! After the Zoo’s four female condors left to breed at the Oregon and LA Zoos, two new juveniles arrived in their place. This brother and sister duo came from the LA Zoo, and they’ll live here in Santa Barbara until they’re old enough breed. For this critically endangered species, these breeding programs are vital to sustaining the populations.”

••• Ransom, the old-books-and-other-stuff store, appears to have vacated 427 State Street (Haley/Gutierrez). It somehow simultaneously represented both the charm and the malaise of State Street.

••• I was disappointed to see that Drishti yoga boutique at 130 E. Canon Perdido closed (a while ago). It seemed like a good fit for that microneighborhood.
