In a separate 5-0 vote, the supervisors requested reports and public education on election safety and voting rights—to help prepare people, they said, for the possibility that immigration enforcement officers may attempt to intimidate or deter voters.” But there were “questions about how much bite key aspects of the response will have in practical terms.” —Santa Barbara News-Press
••• “The County’s Board of Supervisors took steps to implement a housing marketing program aimed at people who work and live on the South Coast and Santa Ynez region.” Developers of market-rate projects with at least five new units on the South Coast and in the Santa Ynez Valley must submit a plan that includes a) 12 weeks of marketing to locals before general audiences; b) advertising “in a local newspaper and on social media platforms” for 12 weeks; and c) “conduct outreach to local employers, housing organizations, and jurisdictions.” This is ludicrous; I can’t even. —Independent
