Sur la Table’s Santa Barbara Store Is Closing

••• Facing bankruptcy, Sur la Table is closing its State Street store, notes KEYT’s John Palminteri. The sign outside says items are 10-30% off, and given Sur la Table’s generally high prices, that’s not super meaningful. Still, the store was handy, and with its demise, Santa Barbara will be left with just one kitchen-supply store, Williams Sonoma in La Cumbre Plaza.

••• Is the upcoming auction at 706 Park Lane having trouble getting interest? Any broker who brings a potential buyer to look at the property gets a $50 Amazon gift card—a rather desperate tactic for a house currently listed at $8.9 million….

••• If you have an American Express card, go to the website and sign up (“add to card”) the Shop Small promotion. For every $10 you spend at many local merchants, you get a $5 credit, up to $50 total. It’s not the best reason to support small local businesses, of course.

••• Mate Gallery now has a sale section—called Mate Cellar—on its website. It’s worth keeping an eye on. This festive Italian trivet is $55.

••• The former Just Folk building in Summerland got painted white in advance of Porch’s forthcoming move—looks nice, and certainly of a piece with Field + Fort and The Well.
