Restoration Hardware, the national furniture chain is not a fit amongst the local owned shops of Montecito’s upper village: it’s a complete violation of our lifestyle. We don’t need more traffic. We don’t need more tourist. And besides, what’s cool about dinning in a furniture store amongst furnishings, fabrics and accessories made by Chinese, Indonesian and East Indian laborers?
Keep in mind that this is from a "source" and the article indicates that St. Vincent's has been contacted to see "how much of it is accurate." It is highly doubtful that they would receive a waiver for cleanup. Hazmat cleanup requirements are not based on a site being affordable. It's based on the type of use, type of contamination, whether soils will be exposed, etc.
In another hypocritical maneuver, the County gets a variance for hazardous waste where they are to build housing, because ”who cares? It’s just for the homeless!” ? Speaking from experience, mere mortals (tax paying citizens) would pay dearly for that kind of diagnosis and clean up.
This is wonderful news! I have been to restaurants in Marin & Yountville. The food and service were outstanding. Wish they were moving into the Sears building.
The menu posted on the wall at the restaurant said "piña jengibre"—I guess changed it to match what they're serving!
The drink you tried was the agua fresca “Piña Pepino”- that means pineapple and cucumber, not ginger. That’s why it tasted a lot like cucumber!
Lucca's L.A. showroom is still open, and the company recently launched online sales.
Where did the Lucca people go?
Wow, thanks for sharing this. I owned the "A frame" house on Sherwood dr. for 22 years and loved the neighborhood. Your tour brought back some fond memories.
There could be one on an RV, too, but that's not where this one is.
On an rv
OMG we can see the “house” on Garcia from our street above and it is a shambles. Looks like it should have been condemned years ago. It’s basically a lot and $ 2.9 seems outrageous.
So happy about this!!! Visited the Yountville restaurant many times. Upper Montecito Village needs this.
Are there any updated plans for De La Guerra plaza that were actually approved?
Here’s a link, regarding Potter Hotel/Burton’s Mound hot springs & cold springs. I would swear that I had heard somewhere that the Castillo Underpass water problems are related to these springs. Maybe Neal Graffy knows…

Exactly! It boggles my mind how anyone in the city/state would have thought building this road below sea level would not constantly need to be re-done. Someone, some where is thrilled by the constant source of revenue this road creates.
The only way to keep the underpass dry is a bridge over the 101, or raising the 101 bridge so the underpass would be at a higher point. That's been the case since the underpass was built. Of course, the people who could have made that decision way back when wouldn't think of putting a bridge over the 101, or raising the 101 bridge. This is the result.
FWIW, from what I understand, there’s a natural hot spring/seepage near the Castillo underpass which is what causes the constant moisture there.
It's still happening; these things take time.
Whatever happened to redoing the pedestrian walkway under the freeway on state street? It desperately needs it.
What?! Government agencies arguing over responsibility for failure? ??
Azul is still not open for business. I called for Valentine's Day reservations and was told they are still waiting for City permits. Hopefully they'll open soon!
The liquor license for Santo Mezcal lists David Back and Carlos Luna as the two owners.
I’m sorry Eric, but I was under the impression that carlos the owner of los agaves was the owner of santo mezcal.? I’m confused. Can you please shed some light?
Ah! I missed that, thank you.
