Dan, who's going to pay to buy the NP site and turn it into low income housing?
The MarBorg series is great journalism. I don't personally have a stake in garbage collection fees but I understand that others in the community do. Having someone finding facts on unclear issues that affect many is invaluable.
I would happily give massages in that nook!

Save the Pressroom, and build multistory apartments on the NP site. Low income housing, of course.
I drove by the story poles today at Los Carneros / Calle Real. I have NO idea how they will fit 14 one-bedroom apartments, an office, and parking for all those tenants in the space. Nutty.
I don't understand what the News- Press is doing besides a slow motion sinking.
High end hotel …????????‍♀️ … that’s the last thing we need… enough hotels already. It should be something for the locals, to bring them back to down town.
The money that would cost to build a new police station could be spent on the mold problem, but less money renovation still be under the cost of a new station it will be by the old one
I think as a local 10th generation, Santa Barbara is where the new suppose. Police department should be plenty of parking.
Another quirk of 21 E. Quinto was that the kitchen didn't have room for a fridge. The agent said the former owner kept one in the laundry room.
This would be a perfect place for the police station! But there may be mold issues in the basement from water damages in the past.
Please use the words higgledy piggledy and brokerbabble as often as possible ????
I have tried Kitchenette's veggie lasagne and the turkey meatballs and both were delicious and provided generous servings! Highly recommend.
Thank you for saying that! I’ve been thinking the very same thing. Jeez, not sure why putting your cans curbside is SUCH a big deal or why they keep digging at Marborg. Surely there is much more important issues to report on!
Well written, interesting and fine photos - thanks.
Yes, it's appreciated that the real estate postings aren't uniformly glowing, with the usual over the top smarmy words to describe a property. A bit of critical wording makes for much better reading.
You’ve really got an ax to grind with Marborg. I’ve never seen someone so obsessed with curbside garbage collection
Nothing compares to the quality of Comedor. And with all the condiments that go with it, it's well worth the $$!
“Trippy” is a misguided term for a very intention, long-dreamt up space for ALL kids to play. It’s a creative design with a long fundee tree aiding effort to bring sb an inclusive playground.
The real Karens are those drawing media attention to this situation. Old entitled white people who need something new to complain about
Raze the hangers. They're dilapidated old buildings. If they're important to you. Take some pics. Look at pics. Get warm and fuzzy feeling of longing for the past... take a nap. | There is an overblown sense of nostalgia in SB that drives far too many "historical" registries. Just because it's old, doesnt mean it's worth saving. In fact, most old buildings and structures are not worth the effort let alone the cause.
The Longoria wine tasting space is lovely.
Tess: Agreed! And talk about car-dependent housing out there in that odd no man's land. Will it have 14 tenant parking spaces available? It must, because there's zero street parking! The description from the City's website further states, "The lot is located on the southeast corner of the Calle Real/Los Carneros roundabout and is zoned Office Institutional (OI)." Doesn't sound like it's zoned for housing. Maybe because it's a goofy spot!
The “echô 1926” at 801 De la Guerra Terrace might once have been "hecho 1926" - Spanish for "made in 1926."
