••• Farmacy now has a second cannabis shopin Santa Barbara: it’s at 4235 State Street (near Highway 154), where Sunstone had been planning on opening a dispensary.
••• I hear that the former Rite Aid at Fairview Center in Goleta will be a temporary Halloween store. I wouldn’t be surprised if the one on Milpas went that way, too.
••• Another single-artist “gallery” has opened: REH Contemporary Studio and Gallery at 12 W. Anapamu. According to a press release from Downtown Santa Barbara, it’s “showcasing the figurative artwork of artist Ruth Ellen Hoag [and] offers weekly studio classes in watercolor, acrylic, and mixed-media painting.”
••• Comedian Fortune Feimster plays the Lobero Theatre on October 24.
••• Last time I posted about the possible addition of a second railroad track along Padaro Lane, and the trees that would have to be cut down to accommodate it, I wrote that the street is part of the California Coastal Trail. JL subsequently pointed out that, according to the map on the CCT website, the trail is actually on the sand, not the pavement. I’ve reached out twice to the CCT to see if that’s accurate, because there are signs posted along the street, but I have yet to hear back. (The signs are more or less near where there’s public beach access, so perhaps that’s what they’re meant to indicate.)
••• While riding my bike to get that last photo, I had to stop and snap a photo of the striking building under construction at 3091 Padaro.
••• And on my way home, I stopped by the Rosewood Miramar Beach to confirm that the new-ish gates at the main entrance are now closed when not in use. The pedestrian gate was not locked… yet?

One thing to consider about CCT is that the beach isn’t always passable. High tides, erosion, and seasonal changes can make walking on the sand impossible, so Padaro Lane serves as the practical Coastal Trail route when beach access is limited.
