A Bigger Space and Menu for Broad Street Oyster Company

••• Shortly after Broad Street Oyster Company opened in the former Cubaneo space, it became clear that the plan was only temporary while founder Chris Tompkins looked for a permanent spot. With the closing of Modern Times, Broad Street’s neighbor in the Kim’s Service Dept. building, opportunity knocked. Tompkins has announced that he’s taking over that space—and will be serving beer, wine, and the full menu, as at the original Malibu location, instead of the current abbreviated one. Expect it “soon.”

••• T. asked when the Lighthouse Coffee at Noleta’s Turnpike Center will open: mid-April, says owner Chris Chiarappa.

••• Elsewhere in the strip mall, Restaurant Guy says that Chiarappa plans to combine two spaces and open a tap room, à la his Corner Tap on the Mesa. P.S. Bravo to whoever decided to put rat sculptures outside a collection of restaurants….

••• The Society: State & Mason opens this week at the Hotel Californian. It’s open to the public, and not just Foley Food & Wine Society members; the fare sounds like pretty standard tasting-room stuff. —Independent

••• Shalhoob Meat Co. says that its Public Market outpost will open this week.

Talking about seafood… any word on progress at Sealegs? I was surfing at campus point last weekend so drove by and saw no construction.
