Two More Rite Aid Stores Are Closing

••• Casa Riviera, the 30-room vacation-rental hotel—there’s no staffer on site—at the corner of Garden Street and De La Guerra Street has opened. I already mentioned how good it looks from the outside (especially compared to days of yore), and the rooms are sharp, too. (The second-floor ones are preferable, of course.) Mid-week in August, a double room starts at $414 for a 246-square-foot room on the ground floor, plus $65-per-stay cleaning fee and $50 per night in local taxes, for a total of $529.

••• The recent announcement about the upcoming nine-month closure of the southbound on-ramp at Olive Mill Road got some people concerned that it overlaps with the closure of the Posilipo Lane (San Ysidro) onramp, and indeed it does. From mid-July through next spring, if you want to head south on Highway 101, you’ll have to to get on the freeway at Milpas or Sheffield.

••• Megan commented that the Rite Aid on the Mesa is closing July 15, which I called and confirmed. And then I called the store on Milpas; its last day is July 9.

••• Queens of the Stone Age play the Arlington Theatre on November 8: “This tour is a limited series of very special one-night-only evenings at a curated selection of North America’s most historic theaters. Comprised of all-new arrangements crafted specifically for the occasion and enhanced by assembled ensembles, the end result will be a precious few unique and intimate performances unlike any previous QOTSA tour.”

••• No one guessed last weekend’s Where in Santa Barbara…?, so I posted the answer. It’s at Super Cucas on W. Micheltorena Street.

••• Heidi Merrick is having a sample sale on June 28 and 29, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at her Summerland showroom.

••• The city posted info about its annual July 4 celebration at the waterfront.

••• Director John Waters will be at the Lobero Theatre on October 19: “His all-new, secret-sharing, one-man crackpot comedy show dares to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the filthy truth.” It’s a Halloween show, so costumes—perhaps Sylvia Stickles from A Dirty Shame?—are encouraged.

The Rite aid on Fairview is also apparently closing, according to signs posted around the shopping center

Has Sandpiper made any progress in getting approvals and support needed for the renovation? I saw an ad in the Independent that days “coming soon”, which got me excited. If Goleta somehow misses the ability for a private individual to do this significant investment that will provide so much value to the community they are idiots.

The Rite and Aid are closing near were I live also. In Pittsburgh I went there for couple things with my family and they have empty shelves 😔 I was very sad about it. I brought some things that I need in the house.
