Salty at the Beach Is Headed for New Ownership

••• Salty at the Beach‘s last night was last night, reports R. And the word is that the downstairs restaurant, formerly Chomp on the Rocks, will be Anchor Rose, offering cocktails and tapas. UPDATE: Salty says it ain’t so, that the restaurant is simply in escrow with new owners, and it will remain Salty at the Beach until the downstairs establishment is ready. I changed the headline accordingly.

••• Low Pigeon posted that it is indeed becoming the fourth branch of Lighthouse Coffee, but there’s hope the quality will remain high: “Our head roaster, Jason, will still be producing the coffee you love and our wonderful baristas will still be crafting your favorite drinks. Same team, same great coffee!”

••• An Edhat reader floated out the rumor that Trader Joe’s is opening in Carpinteria, and another commenter noted that in a Something to Carp About podcast, surf photographer Brent Flaaten says the company “is looking at the land at Eye of the Day [garden] design center to build a new structure.” Eye of the Day was on the market for a while (and may very well still be).

••• Saint Bibiana, the pizzeria in the former Little Kitchen space, went from “pre-soft opening” to open Wednesday through Sunday, starting at 5:30 p.m.

••• According to the May 2 agenda of the city’s Architectural Review Board, the Chick-fil-A at 3707 State Street “proposes to add a canopy for the existing drive-through service window at the rear of the building, add additional vehicle lanes and new menu order boards for the drive-through, widen the entrance driveway, reconfigure the existing parking lot including removal of 15 parking spaces, new bike racks, a new storm water treatment system, and other site improvements.”

••• Pico in Los Alamos has a new chef, says Edible Santa Barbara: “Cameron Ingle, formerly of Blue Hill at Stone Barn. New farmer-driven menu based on family-style sharing, with ingredients sourced entirely from local farmers and ranchers.”

Hi. I am part owner of Salty. It is not closed. It is in escrow and even when the new owner takes over it will remain salty for a while, until downstairs is complete. Can you please change your header from saying closed so that people will still come down and eat and enjoy the view.
