My vote us YES on recall with a ✔️ next to Larry Elders name.
This is the Governor of California quoted yesterday....
“Gavin Newsom 'incredibly proud' of Biden amid Afghanistan debacle, doubles down on campaigning with him”
VOTE!
Thanks for pointing that out. I could’ve sworn it didn’t say that before—maybe the post got updated, or maybe I just got it wrong….
Not trying to be snarky, but the LA Taco article directly mentions Rose Cafe on Haley is closed.
"We always preferred the feel of the now-closed Hayley Street original, but still love the cooking at the Mesa address"
Nice Egyptian Revival energy on the Gutierrez building. A pleasant example of adding some variation to the architecture in town without sacrificing timelessness and good looks.
Would Farmer’s Market welcome a MAGA booth? Let the street corners be a perfect spot for politicians, leave my market out of it.
I think it is fine that electeds have booths in local events/farmers market. I think more of them should be available to meet with the public instead of only having fundraising events for those with deep pockets. Jack O'Connell used to set up a little folding table on the corner of State Street and Carrillo and talk with anyone who came up to ask questions or just wanted to talk.
I agree
Best wishes for the crew at Via Maestra 42- excellent meals every single time I visit
Not interested in reading about awful criminal activities from your newsletter. I love Siteline the way it is.
I agree
I totally agree. 30+ years in, Isidore is more excited and passionate about his food than ever. The enchiladas and chilaquiles are also incredible specials. If they haven't run out, get the rice and beans. The rajas are out of this world. During the takeout only period of covid they did an amazing job -- the food traveled surprisingly well. You can't rush greatness!
It's a deeply sad (national) story but I don't think you should ignore it. Acknowledging it without covering is a good balance.
Eh, anyone ordering tacos at Super Rica is definitely a noob or an out of towner and deserves any of the “insult” they feel. Every local knows the specials are out of this world - the veggie relleno in a beautiful spiced broth, the veggie tamal in cream sauce, the to-die-for pozole (most of these often sold out or unavailable), and of course the classic #16 which remains an all time favorite for many.
Stick with the lifestyle nature of your great newsletter and leave the crime stories to "news" outlets, please.
Beach ball is on Hitchcock Way
Looks like the people have spoken. No murders on Siteline. This is our happy place to get away from it all! :)
We rented 8 Rincon Point Ln. for a summer in the mid-‘90s. Great location if you love the beach and are a kid, or have them. One memory I can’t shake of living there and also at Padaro was the sensation of constant dampness. Getting into bed at night, sheets were always a little damp. Towels that never quite dry out. Etc. I can’t stand it!
I love your site and Instagram feed, and I’ll confess I especially like it to “escape” news stories like this recent one. So if you’d could leave these kinds of stories to the other news outlets I’d be very appreciative.
Sad local story??
Don’t pop my bubble
Your current content focus is distinctive, interesting and my only daily reading - no need to add the murder stories. Thank you for asking!
There’s enough coverage on Noozhawk, Edhat , local TV news on stories like what happened in Mexico. Keep with the theme of knowing our city better
Love your captions:) Thanks for a jaunt through the quirk!
Long live the Ranchero, Vaquero and Cowboy culture in the 805.
I adore being in the Bungalow Haven area.
