Thank you! I appreciate it. So far no word here in SB. ? We are in a unique location and our trash cans are actually up some stairs. It’s never been a problem before, but who knows what will happen. And what a joke about “state mandated” colors for trash cans?! I see our politicians have been busy with the important issues. Eye roll.
The chickens have moved to Voulgaris's home.
There was an email I don't have anymore, followed by the one below (which didn't totally make sense to me so I ignored it). Then last week we received notes attached to our containers. We're in Montecito, so this may not affect people within city limits. The email: "During the month of January, MarBorg Industries will be swapping all trash and green waste cans (containers without wheels) for wheeled carts on your service day. As previously communicated, we are transitioning to 'curbside' wheeled cart service as the default collection method in your area. Unless you have directly contacted our office to implement 'non-curbside' service, ALL CARTS MUST BE PLACED AT THE CURBSIDE by 6AM on your service day moving forward. If you currently have personal cans that you would like us to recycle, please place them at the curbside on any service day, and we will remove them. TRASH carts will now be a GRAY color as mandated by California’s SB 1383 container uniformity requirements." (Why on earth does the state care what color containers are?! All the old tan ones just got tossed? Oy.)
Hi. Could you advise how Marborg contacted you about the incredible increase in garbage collection services ? I haven't received anything and have regular trash cans beside my garage but always put them on my driveway for pickup. Thank you
Hey Erik. Can I ask you how Marborg made you aware of that fee change? We are in Santa Barbara and I’m wondering if this is going to apply to us as well. It would double our bill. Haven’t heard anything yet…
I had the exact same thought. The chickens are so charming. That back garden feels like being in New York or London! I don’t know that the new location will accommodate the chickens. Have you seen the silkie chickens at Garde?
Are they going to have their chickens in the new location? I loved going in the back to visit them.
Just screenshot it, save it and then you can enlarge. Takes a second. Easy workaround.
I appreciate you. You're standing up for de la Guerra Plaza. Do you know that funding for design/lighting is on the upcoming City Council agenda? Maybe you'll weigh in. It just needs some repair work and maintenance. [email protected]
Looks wonderful, I wish them the best - that spot has been tough historically but I hope this sticks around.
For those of us with bad eyesight it would help if the menus were zoomable. I can't expand it with my fingers or zoom in when I click on the pages. Thanks.
Looks lovely! Can't wait to visit.
I agree with BW. You will never meet a nicer, harder working, caring couple as the owners of Handlebar. Christine, I'm sorry you don't like them and perhaps you like to support large national chains over local businesses but a lot of us like and support Handlebar. I thought the Milpas location was perfect for another version of Handlebar. Too bad it didn't work out.
We bought in Dec 2021 (moving home to be closer to parents). At the time, we were just looking for something, anything we could afford (and win) before the market was completely out of reach. We thought once we were here and had sold our former home we could continue looking from a better position. As it happens we now love our "good enough" home, but if we had found something we liked better we would have been part of the revolving door.
Give me Noodle City all day!!!
Many people are outraged by the treatment SCD received from the landlord. You know what we need to do, people, go to a different SCD location and boycott Three Pickles. The Pickles owner had to have been in on this with the landlord for many month. Besides, SCD is SOOOO much better
David, I own and have owned both commercial and residential property in SB. For some of us it is not about making the most money but the moral compass and ethics of business that needs to counter the greed that is exponentially increasing. A good tenant is priceless and property owners need to consider their intentions and actions. SCD was a successful and much appreciated business at Chapala and Arrellaga supported by professionals, small businesses and residents . It was our neighborhood place, we knew the names of the workers and managers. The prices and portions were fair and the service great. They will be sorely missed by us all.
Gorgeous interior. Menu looks fantastic.
No, but thanks for guessing!

"Buy the kitchen staff a beer" - Love it!
Thanks for the sarcasm Elle. I really do appreciate it I am just trying to make a point. I am 100% sure you would be one of those landlords raising your tenants rent every chance you had. Db
Of course, David, everyone thinks exactly like that. I have to say, though, that it’s tons more satisfying when I can screw over a friend or family member in the process (bonus points for giving it to elder family members).
