How about you give her an answer rather than parroting her with condescending questions?
Terrific walk. I lived on upper olive while at UCSB on the Riviera. Great walking always. By the way that was a wringer on the washer A mangle was for ironing large items in the home like sheets tablecloths etc. I used to use one at my in-laws. Not fun. Love your walks. Thanks.

If, in the peak of summer, our bars and restaurants are not 100% full, why do we need more bars and restaurants? Why is the city approving more bars and restaurants? Has that ever been articulated?
Couldn’t agree with y’all more. The Erewhon super fandom is weird and out of touch.
Amen, Sam and James! The Jenna Erewhon super fandom is so strange. Santa Barbara has a lot more options than other similarly sized towns. If Erewhon saw a demand here, they’d be here. But despite how the local press may make it seem, many full time locals simply don’t put there money there.
If, in the peak of summer, our hotels are only 77% full, why do we need more hotels? Why is the city approving more hotels? Has that ever been articulated?
The Her The Brand color choices are right on the money on how the Coral Casino members must feel about the membership dues.
I forgot Augies is still open. So many better restaurants in town with tastier food and "I better sit inside so I don't get my stuff stolen" vibe.
I walk on these streets everyday and marvel at the interesting homes, stone walls and secret paths and staircases. If you have walked from Orpet park over to Paterna there is a wonderful collection of toy frogs laid out that has continued to grow through the years. I believe it was started as a tribute to a child who loved frogs.
Great coverage of a quirky neighborhood. Of note is how some of the streets have changed name since the sidewalks were put in and engraved at corners. For instance, I've lived on Prospect Ave. for over 50 years, but just recently noticed that it was apparently originally Prospect St. And Loma had an earlier name—Putnam Ave.—captured for posterity when the sidewalks were put in. Only noticed when you walk!
Another fun fact is the fountains in town - like at Bonita Plaza were originally horse troughs !
That “bus stop” is actually an old trolley stop on APS I believe it is a historical landmark?
love the photos- we share the same idea of what is worthy of a capture

What a wonderful reminder of how extraordinary this place we call home is. Thank you for these walking adventures.

Hopefully they are revamping their service standards. Service has been very poor every time I’ve gone.
So let’s get this straight, Ty closes Coral Casino during pandemic. Then when restrictions ease up, still doesn’t open due to renovations. Then finally opens and blasts members with a $2,000 monthly dues increase? Wow, just wow. Many won’t care for obvious reasons but let’s take a look at people who have been members for many decades and can’t afford this increase. Screw them? Not everyone in Montecito nor Santa Barbara are bigilionaires. What a sad state, even if I could afford a membership, I wouldn’t join based on this pure greed, elitist play.
There is a great staircase you can take between Pedregosa/Loma down to Pedregosa/Grand. Also the house at 1741 Prospect (I think that is the address) is a Greene & Greene home if you haven’t seen it before.
Milpas is Spanish for cornfields or small fields of corn, beans, and pumpkin. The Yellow things are supposed to signify corn -though not sure if it's the silks or the stalks. When I moved here from NYC 30 yrs ago -this was all over the local news - should they be there or not, blah blah blah...
Great photos. When I go to the Riviera movie theatre I walk from downtown and up the Sierra Street staircase. I love the view from the top railing.
This is the sign for Lily’s Nails on State Street.
Perhaps to avoid all the electric bikes going by at 30mph- I would hate to have one ram into someone while enjoying their outdoor dining without barricades
Maybe Ty Warner can use some of that money he is receiving from the increase in membership dues to pay his property taxes and finally pay out the 450 employees he has had on furlough for nearly 4 years. I do not feel bad for the members of the club getting hit with such a big increase in dues either. They live and play in one of the most elite zip codes in the world. You've gotta pay to play!!! Definitely rich people problems.
Initiation fee to Coral Casino around $300,000 too I believe
Oops, you’re right. I thought this was about new Corazon place in Montecito. I’ve lost track of the different restaurants going into the space on Anapuma. Such a great location but nothing seems to work there since Arts and letters closed down.
Think you might have the restaurants confused. Don’t think they have anything to do with Azul.
