Two More Shops Have Opened at The Post

••• The Post shopping center across from the Andrée Clark Bird Refuge keeps filling out: the two new arrivals are Save Khaki United (above) and Shoppe Amber Interiors (below). And the Little King Coffee cart is now reliably there on weekends from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

••• Opening February 28 at Sullivan Goss: The Miramar Affair, a solo show by Hank Pitcher. “Twenty paintings—ranging in size from a suite of ten small paintings made on the beach from direct observation to six large studio paintings—will tell the story of the artist’s last year and a half on the famous beaches of Montecito.” Plus: ” A special catalog printed in a limited edition of just 250 copies will be on hand with stories written by the artist and images from the artist’s most recent engagement there as well as a selection of paintings of the place from years past.” Below: “Yellow Umbrella.”

••• State Street retail updates: 1) RH closed its showroom at 710 State Street, as expected, now that it’s open in Montecito; 2) The Art Essentials art-supply store has moved to the former Gift Shoppe Annex space (1207 State Street, between Anapamu and Victoria); 3) Sephora confirmed its move—first reported here last August—from Paseo Nuevo to 733 State (between Ortega and De La Guerra).

••• After I posted about the housing development under construction next to the polo fields, I heard from listing agent Michael Calcagno, who said that the homes should be coming on the market next month. You can contact him for more info or to be kept in the loop at 805-896-0876 and [email protected].

••• Mary Chapin Carpenter and Brandy Clark play the Lobero Theatre on June 16. Here’s an oldie but goodie:

••• And two more Santa Barbara Bowl shows: Mt. Joy (August 24) and Father John Misty with Lucinda Williams (July 24).

••• From the city: “Friday Night Swing Returns to Carrillo Ballroom This Month [….] Dancers of all skill levels can enjoy an evening of swing dancing to a live band each month.” More info.

••• Montecito resident Leslie Bains has written Birds, Monarch Butterflies, and Short Hikes in the Santa Barbara Area, “a nonfiction picture book celebrating Santa Barbara’s wildlife and sharing local family-friendly hiking recommendations.” It comes out March 4.
