••• Rori’s Artisanal Creamery is opening in Goleta at 270 Storke Road (next to Rusty’s Pizza and opposite SloCoDo donuts). It’ll be the company’s fourth location in Santa Barbara County and eighth overall.
••• Anyone know what’s up with Intermezzo? “It’s been closed for several months and there’s no sign in the window or update on the website,” says T. “We’ve stopped by a few times since December and it’s been closed each time.” You may recall that it pressed pause back in the fall, promising to reopen in October with a streamlined menu. I don’t know whether that happened or not; the menu online is still pretty extensive. Reservations are being offered on OpenTable, but when I called during business hours, no one answered. UPDATE: A reader on Instagram says, “We dined at Intermezzo last night and it was excellent. They have gradually added more hours and days since they reopened after some renovations I believe.”
••• White Caps is back in the Funk Zone, serving its full menu outside Pali Wine Co. on Saturdays and Sundays.
••• An Independent profile of Good Lion Hospitality includes the news that Sama Sama is no longer involved in Lion’s Tale on Coast Village Road. Instead, “Good Lion Hospitality has hired Adam Abrams to be their executive chef for the entire company,” and more food—including weekend brunch—is coming to the bar.
••• Jalapeño SB is opening in the former Santa Barbara Food Connection space at Milpas and Canon Perdido.
••• According to Radius Commercial Real Estate’s year-end report, an ice cream shop called “Santa Ynez Valley Creamery is close to opening in the front row anchor position” at Founders Market (Mission Street and Alisal Road) in Solvang. “Three additional leases at the property are in advanced negotiations and expected to be signed by the end of January. Meanwhile there’s a waitlist for future small shop and restaurant spaces planned along Mission Street in the coming year.”
••• Note to self: try the chicken schnitzel sandwich at Tamar next time it’s offered as a special. UPDATE: Apparently it’ll be on the menu for a while.

Had no idea Ed St George was part of Radius- seems they are betting on his properties in Solvang- Founders Market being the only operating parcel he has currently….he is quite unpopular as his project directly across the street is foundering under a stop work order. The property next door to stop work property, the former Security Pacific bank- also sits mid re-do empty and behind chain link fence. He purchased Pea Soup Andersen’s- currently a chain link surrounded dilapidated eyesore. He has a second project coming in Btown that has a lifesize coffee pot as a focal point….
Another of the new businesses at Founders Market will be a pizza/wine/beer open air spot from the folks behind Standing Sun Winery in Buellton- who has also started bringing back music events to their tasting room.
Rooted Vine Cellars- Radius called them Rooted Vince- are a great couple who live offshore while running a wine tour business in the Valley- also world travelers.
Andrea’s Heart is a up and running business- women’s goods including home goods & jewelry , with CHOMP and Solvang Coffee (coffee with a cop/CHP this Tues!) still anchoring the plaza.
Lots of nuggets in the Radius report!
Dinner at Intermezzo before BFG show at Lobero was a disaster. Some high profile guests may have had priority service in the dining room ( I hope so for their sake) while in the packed bar, many tables had diners, including us, chasing down the one over-spent waitperson and bartender for orders, checks and drinks. Our 40 minute wait ended with an apology that our order “was put in, but never made” and a random offering of food–salad, fries and eventually a cold pizza (not our original order)–was delivered so that that we wouldn’t leave hungry and still make the show. No charge for the meal, but honestly we’d have preferred to pay for a stressless dinner experience! With Intemezzo’s iconic location, what a shame that they can’t figure it out!
We were at Intermezzo on a Thursday evening a few weeks back and the staff was all new to us. Our server said that, for now, they were only open Thursday-Sunday with a streamlined menu. Only part of the dining room was open, as well as the bar and front sidewalk tables, and she said the rest was reserved for private events. Wine list was small. Everything was still delicious.
So happy to hear that they are still open! We tried going a few times since December and it was always closed. I was worried they had closed for good. The food is great and the owner is lovely and often stops by tables to visit with clients.
Adam Abrams turns out great food! Great to hear he is with the Good Lion peeps!
Christine,
I just want to clarify your post above: Ed St. George is a client of Radius, not a part of Radius. I am his leasing agent and have our Radius LEASING signs in the windows at Founders Market. Feel free to reach out to me if you would like deeper insight on his projects.
