I just love the name "squished meatball" sandwich ;-)
I mention gallery shows when I think they sound interesting, and yes, in my opinion, Sullivan Goss tends to have more along those lines. (It's also much more proactive about getting the word out.) But I've certainly mentioned shows at many other galleries (in recent months, Caldwell Snyder, Seimandi & Leprieur, Tamsen Gallery, Art & Soul...). Your best bet is to sign up for updates from the galleries themselves (or follow on Instagram), so you can decide for yourself what you think is worth a visit.
Clark’s is super loud. Friends who asked about moving to a quieter part of the restaurant were told “that’s the ambiance”
@N both Local and Ospi have lovely small private rooms that would be perfect for a luncheon.
That’s disappointing news about Jeannine’s on Upper State.
It seems like Sullivan Goss gets a lot of coverage in your newsletter. Are they the only legitimate gallery in town? Or do they just have an effective outreach/PR team? I’m genuinely curious—have stopped by a few of their shows because of Siteline and would love to learn about more high quality gallery events around town!
What a waste of taxpayers money !
Why don’t you just put people up in hotels on a as need basis, unless the city has an extra two million to just throw around, we have to question some of the ideas that some these people come up with..
👍🏻
We love sitting at the bar (made out of sea glass) at Ospi, ordering the Pepe-Roni pizza and enjoying a basil margarita with salt foam. It's not too expensive and a fun date night!
Not only is OSPI at the POST expensive, it's not very good. Chicken parm not edible. Spicy rigatoni much too spicy. Generic spaghetti with orange sauce, yuck. I guess they will make money on their booze.
I’m intrigued by the tortoises would like to meet them place sounds cool
I live in Marin and recommend a Marin GOOT. Happy to give suggestions. And also North Beach in SF is an interesting and often overlooked neighborhood esp for more interesting shopping.
I agree! Feels like we keep getting the same genre of restaurants (expensive also) opening up in Montecito and I would love to have a linden square/public market kind of casual dining with different cuisines open up in that part of town.
Fermented sourdough bread - yummy. Nice upscale picnic vibe. Chicken meal looks delish. Can't wait.
I love Ojai Rotie! Lucky Carpinteria!!!
I continue to be wowed by the evolution of Carp! I only wish we had something like Linden Square in Montecito/Summerland/Bird Refuge (Post) instead of the Rodeo-Drive-like offerings that we now have in Montecito and "Baja" Montecito.
Spot on, Brad. Unfortunately, in SB, all the blue-striped toothpaste is out of the tube...
i was excited about mothers but when i went in, the taco (carne asada) had zero flavor. Really disappointed. Had high expectations
Love the history of this ranch.! Thanks for sharing.
oh great! carp will love it! great addition!! cozy vibes!

Affordable units? Land is expensive, construction is expensive,…. How do we burden a private party trying to provide housing with a mandated loss to address an issue they did not create? This will result is less housing and higher prices …. Do the leaders wanting these policies ever look this reality or just roll with the emotional ideas that sound so good and don’t work?

“Yes, Lee Radziwill had a connection to the Santa Ynez Valley in California.
She and her husband, director Herbert Ross, owned a 400-acre ranch in the Santa Ynez Valley, which they sold to actor James Garner and his wife Lois in 1991. The property, which featured a 23-acre Chardonnay vineyard, was later known as Savanna Ranch” . So this property is also the entrance to Demetria Winery- on it’s southern flank - the property has it’s own entrance but we all used the Demetria entrance as it was first on the road.
The ranch is spectacular- the shooting range is used by the Sheriff Dept - hope the new owners continue that relationship.
I’ve cooked hundreds of meals here- and have seen fireworks above the pond put on by the same company who does them for major celebrations around the Country- in fact the day the Zaca Fire started, the ranch was allowed to carry on with their planned fireworks because they were being shot over the pond. Second wife used to hold Sunday Salons with the best speakers! The chef at the ranch - Stephanie Valentine, was the best chef in the Valley for years- the wedding to wife #3 was held in the equestrian barn- made over by Mindy Rice into a super club from NYC - what a 3 day event that was. My best memory is meeting and helping NYC Socialite Nina Griscom (Food Network alumni) settle in for the week. Martha Stewart! Ed Holmes renting out to be married there!
Yes!
