Sam- I am so blessed, and my gas tank is FULL! This is happening as we all know who will be in office after the 2024 election- the leases will all be open again and SB County- as much as it deserves NADA- will pay many many bills and pensions with the tax revenue. And you and I will be proud of our contributions to our Country! Love ya!
I had all the same thoughts about Abrigada but wasn’t aware it was part of a kitty litter dynasty. Lends an additional dimension of LOL to the whole thing.
Foothill is the most drab and uninspired thing I’ve seen. Doesn’t anyone doing renovations or design in town have any personality anymore? Blegh. Sometimes I browse LA listings just to see some homes that have a soul, despite hating LA with every fiber of my being.
I like that the speculators on Chelham added the tasteful stone wall out front. It wasn’t in the street view and that’s a really lovely addition.
Imagine being so willfully ignorant and yet so confident? Sigh...
Bless your heart Christine!
Even more reason to welcome them- why on EARTH we fly globally without a care in the world yet try to tell fellow Americans they suck for daring to sail their own coastline and visit their Riviera. Absolutely stunning audacity - we employ thousands to serve tourists!
Thanks! Helpful to know.
Monterey has stopped allowing cruise ships to stop there, so if a line wants an itinerary with a stop between L.A. and San Francisco, we're it's only choice.
"The cruise lines need us more than we need them." Just curious what you are basing this comment on.
Common sense says relying on the comically UNSURE & never stable Middle Eastern sources, especially at THIS TIME, is laughably unwise. Thanks for the laugh
Offshore drilling so close to the mainland is unnecessary and unwise. Closing much of Alaska is equally unwise. There is plenty of crude to be had in places that so not pose such an extreme environmental risk. Let common sense prevail.
The loss of Linden Hall is SO disappointing.
Carp is small, and we should be TRYING to get new businesses and cool ideas into our empty spaces. The council needs to stop dragging their feet and putting up red tape, and start bringing life back into our closed and shuttered spaces. Red tape is strangling Carp and soon Linden will be empty like State St.
HA! Did you purposely post the "bad oil people trying to re-up" on top of "Goleta out of money gonna take gas tax money for car infrastructure" - you are hilarious! DRILL BABY DRILL! Lets contribute to National Security, local jobs and bring oil back- THAT IS THE MESSAGE!
Well, I will have a drink on the Biltmore patio and toast to its long storied history. Hope they haven’t done too much changing of the interior.
The city is to blame. They make Everything 100 times more complicated than it needs to be. There needs to be an overhaul of city employees in carpinteria. Should only allow people with business experience to serve. I don’t think Nick has worked in a regular job that is not for the city . Ever!!
Carp local out!
Bettina’s potato pizza, Corazon’s Norteno and Tijuana tacos, empty Bowl’s wings and Thai beef salad, superica’s number 16, Los Agaves sea and earth Mocajete, Arigato soft shell crab salad and mushroom truffle sushi roll-some of my fave things in SB.
Hey Erik! Have you tried Riviera Bread yet? It's...unreal.
totally agree
Thank you for keeping us posted
I love this post! Thanks. Oat Bakery, Bettina, Corazon. Yum!
Could not agree more about your recommendations! Superb choices, Erik!
And yes, I am all for keeping the one or two popular staples of a restaurant, but please mix up the menu more, for us, we will frequent your restaurant more if you do.
Linden Hall. No shortage of blame on both sides.
"Purported" Ha! That's funnier than anything that's come out of her mouth.......
“Purportedly” is right. Saw her show in Chicago last May and we walked out
"As I recall, the property was left to the city of Santa Barbara, with the stipulation that it would be developed as a site for a regular visitors."
You are mistaken. The property was left to the Bellosoguardo Foundation, a non-profit. The property is still private property just like any property owned by a nonprofit. It is not owned by the City of Santa Barbara, nor is it public property in any way.
Lotusland allows "regular visits to the property for the general public," and it costs $50 per adult and is not ADA compliant because it is a historic estate. I expect a similar situation for this estate too.
We get our coffee at Handlebars and always sit across the street at the presidio. I missed that pic earlier in the week-know right where that is.
Grey Malin must be doing well. Also I assume it will be a vacation rental not year long rental for a family…
Handler at the bowl is a miss
