I tried a pastrami sandwich at Norton's and ended up throwing it out. One bite - greasy, horrible. Can't wait for Wexlers and a true jewish deli.
We do not need 10 blocks of those ugly parklets. As for the electric bikes…put them on another block. They are too dangerous for a walking street. Create a bike lot and make the promenade 5 blocks for a safe pleasant stroll, with some local commerce. I’d also like to see the Holiday parade back. That was the most hometown, small town neighbourhood parade I’ve had the pleasure of seeing
I agree! Support the locals!
Do people have to disclose their mental illness prior to entering the "raffle" for ketamine sessions...
Let's call it what it is - the Drunk Zone. .The Funk died with Red's last party, which was crazy epic for those who remember it, and those hidden little gems of artistic and eclectic shops closed. Now it's filled with places that attract tourists and those who need to be "seen", with the exception of one or two amazing artists or shops...the funk is gone...been gone, and will never return. Maybe it will take 100s of 1000s of $$ to a consultant for a new name, but for now, it's the Drunk Zone for those in the know.
The Drunk Zone. Developers took the funk out long ago.
always enjoyed eclectic Reds...
Ellen and Portia have a gorilla sanctuary that protects them from becoming extinct. That is a great use of their money.
That is the most vanilla tourist section of the funk zone, but let's face it, the funk zone lost it's moniker when the city started marketing it as the funk zone around the time Reds started phasing out and most of the artists were priced out. It's a fun area but it has zero funk.
???? agree, I guess they’re the only ones that can afford the high rents.
Santa Barbara Harbor Boat Launch parking lot.
Another vanilla corporate store / restaurant on state, another chip away at what Santa Barbara used to be. Thanks StarShmucks.
I did not know Lockwood De Forrest designed houses too!
I think this is in the FZ but barely. State street to Garden street, Cabrillo to the 101. That's how I define the FZ. A better headline would be "Starbucks coming to lower State street. And how gross is that!"
I had the same thought. I don’t consider that location to be in the funk zone, but it looks like the funk zone’s website does. To me that’s the waterfront/tourist district
Not to be too strict on neighborhood lines, but is that Starbucks location considered the funk zone?
It’s now open and fantastic. Great place to take your kids. We really enjoyed it.
I agree about plastic @ Merci. I try to remember to bring my own containers or ask for paper which works.
Agree with sauce at Marty’s Pizza. It was the best! Sorry to see them go.
That pizza must REALLY be deep dish, the first time I saw the post I thought it was a stew. Didn't realize it was a pizza until I got to the end. And speaking of pizza I was shocked! Shocked, I'll have you know to see Rusty's Pizza not win the SB Indie Reader's Poll. Congrats to Bettina, I haven't tried it yet and I voted for Lucky Penny. . . since I work there. (But truth be told I really miss Marty's, I loved Marty's . And here's a story, in the early 1990's I had two roommates and we programed the presets on our wall phone. Push 911 and we would hear, "Marty's Pizza, thirty minutes or less!!)
Here is a viable link! https://calcoastnews.com/2023/04/will-legislation-squelch-local-input-on-industrializing-port-san-luis/
Here is some info: https://www.sanluisobispo.com/news/local/environment/article270012052.html
Construction is temp? No - its not. The never ending maintenance of the project, including blade changes every 5-6 years. The 600 boat trips back & forth before a single cable or part is laid down- its going to look like Port Hueneme if we are lucky. Please read up on what Port San Luis will look like and the infrastructure needed just to get the project started started.
Why not both? Anyone who actually cares about the environment should adore nuclear, especially as it is already in place. A wind farm 20 miles offshore is icing on the cake. The construction is temporary.
Let the ultra-rich spend their money on Ellen's brand. Focus your energy on the flippers that are buying reasonably-priced homes, slapping white paint on them, and making 30+%.
