LDR came to the Bowl in the fall of 2017....I'm sure we can get her to return. It was a great show!
There's a 238-space underground garage.
How is a 250 room hotel only going to have 29 parking spaces, That’s only parking for 11% of the guests. Where are the other 89% supposed to park. That is just not thoroughly thought through. These are people traveling through the area. Why not a parking structure or a subterranean structure or less rooms and more parking. The ratio is way out of whack.
I can remember back when the city made a deal with the Wright family to extend Garden street to Cabrillo in exchange the approval for a hotel on the site. I feel for the owners but times change. Tourism patterns change and this project is from a past time. I hope this project goes the same way as the SOMO. Both being too big and wasteful of the precious real estate. This is some of the last, and real funk in the FZ.
Thanks for highlighting a critical flaw in this proposed hotel, the public is not be allowed to use it. Imagine trying to build a 250-room hotel at the gateway of the Funk Zone, and provide no community benefit in return.
@keepthefunksb and keepthefunk.org to join the opposition. No more hotels.
It will be so sweet to return to celebrating our yearly wedding Anniversary (married in the gardens 30 years ago!) and listening to live music in the bar on Saturday evenings. Hoping it has retained it's distinctive 1920's charm...
And hoping people like Christine can learn to carry more love than hate in her soul to help in restoring much needed kindness.
Erik you may not get them BUT Kings Of Leon are playing mostly Arenas now & The Fabulous Forum before playing the SB.Bowl. There will be a HUGE line of fans waiting to buy those tickets (& it’ll sell out quick) on friday.
May we all pray for Christine! and her return to sobriety.
Not necessarily. 119 of 130 of the extended-stay rooms would have kitchens, and the phrase "select service" implies little in the way of amenities. The floor plan shows a "lounge," "bar," "kitchen" (409 square feet), "breakfast room" with "buffet," and a "market." Take a look here: https://www.sitelinesb.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/101-Garden-Street-hotel-floor-plan.jpg
There has to be some restaurant in a hotel that size right?!?
Yummy Thai is open and serves good stuff. Don't be mislead by the large sign atop the building that say "Pattaya, Bar and Restaurant". The building is now two entities, Yummy Thai and Pattaya Bar (the latter is being remodeled and not open). New "Yummy Sign" for the front is coming soon. All according to our server, when we had late lunch on Sunday. The place was empty.
Just tell me where to sign that petition for LDR at the Bowl!!!
Hidden Valley was restored by John Saladino prior to their purchase. ❤️
I'm sure you're getting lots of recommendations of things to eat after your 10 Favorite article but the
one added at Secret Bao a week ago, the Curried Clam on Noodles,( Thai yellow curry sauce) is one of the best things we've ever eaten, we've been back twice.
All of the interiors of these houses have the sameness of “staging” that defies the asking prices. Probably at the suggestion of the agent who represents the seller. Whatever, the blandness of it all flatlines the imagination.
What a great list. Can’t wait to stray from my faves at all the same places. Might I add my have to have at least twice a month Bangkok Street Noodle Soup at The Empty Bowl
I loved the tour of the grounds I used to take. Can't wait to go back to Montecito I am from Scottsdale AZ & loved every minute I was there.
Hmmm, I was hoping Ellen( and a few others) could’ve put forth a million $$ a year to keep the steel nets in place????.
Agreed!
You must try Riviera bread!!
Same owner, but Little Heart Cafecito in The Public Market has my favorite chilequiles.
Corazon Comedor has a queso fundido special on the menu right now that may be the best dish I’ve ever had in Santa Barbara—
Erik , I love your dish choices ! ( Only dish missing for me would be one from Secret Bao .) I am sorry the secret of Oat Bakery's charcoal sesame sourdough bread is out ! Now it will never be on the shelves . ;-).
Melville: 120 State St.
100% agree!
LIVE LIFE AND SAVOR WINE- YOU WON’T LIVE FOREVER!
I would never go on a cruise but something about seeing the ships offshore is appealing. They are huge and then they are gone. I watched the Harbor Commission meeting on You Tube and some people I know spoke out against the ships because they "pollute." The irony is thick. Since that meeting on February 15, we have seen Miramar beach closed because of a sewage spill, West beach opened after 9,000 gallons were spilled in Mission creek. But the most insane news is the 500,000 gallons of sewage spilled into the Goleta slough last week. . . wait. I was online a bit ago and the spill has been updated to over 1,000,000 gallons. There is no threat of pollution from cruise ships compared to what we are doing to ourselves.
