••• The Carpinteria Ceramics Collective is coming to 5036 Carpinteria Avenue (at Linden). It’s “a nonprofit community pottery studio dedicated to creativity, connection, and belonging. We offer classes, memberships, workshops, events, and shared studio access for artists of all experience levels.”
••• El Encanto goes before the Historic Landmarks Commission this Wednesday about adding a a “new 525 square-foot greenhouse to serve as a waiting room for the existing spa.”
••• Gallery Santa Barbara, featuring photography by Nolan Nitschke and Philip Waller, has opened at 1220 State Street (Victoria/Anapamu). I have nothing against artists opening venues dedicated to their work, but I am beginning to feel like “gallery” isn’t the aptest word; without curators, they’re more like shops.
••• Currently at 5731 Hollister Avenue in Old Town Goleta, Goodland Guns is moving to a location TBA near Costco, and there’s a sale in the meantime.
••• Opening July 31 at Sullivan Goss: “a new solo exhibition of abstract paintings for Ethiopian-born painter, Wosene Worke Kosrof. Since the gallery’s last exhibition, Wosene’s works have been added to nine museum collections. He’s now in 30 public collections.” Below: “House of Words III.”
