Adorable San Roque Cottage Gets Quickly Snapped Up

In lieu of a roundup of open houses—which haven’t started up again yet—here are some noteworthy properties that have just come on the market.

Listed on June 10 and gone pending soon after: Is the hot market for turnkey properties expanding into San Roque, or is the 1947 house at 3069 Calle Fresno ($1.675 million) just that cute? Could definitely be the latter. Bonus points for the Dutch door painted red.

There are some intriguing period elements at 624 Las Alturas Road ($1.75 million), built in 1978, but the exterior is a dog’s dinner and the Spanish-style floors wandered in from some other house. (Paint them black…?) But those are great views for the price.

502 Picacho Lane ($4.495 million) photographs nicely, and the floor plan could be quirky in a good way, seeing as how the house was built in 1947. That said, the kitchen sure looks small, and the location—right at the corner of East Valley Road—is a concern. P.S. Here’s hoping there’s a well for all that lawn.

You have to admire the chutzpah of whoever looked at 2007 Santa Barbara Street ($2.395 million) and christened it The Palm Residence. It would appear to be a spec renovation, since the current owner bought it for $1.4 million last November. There are nice touches, but I’m not sure about the front-yard deck (which exists because the back is given over to the motor court and garage).

Some of the interiors at 4665 Via Bendita ($3.55 million) skew suburban, but the outdoor areas—in particular, the hacienda-style courtyard—might make up for it. The price is good for six move-in-ready bedrooms in Hope Ranch, and the guest house is permitted and has its own entrance.
