Coyote’s Market is a new specialty grocery in Carpinteria built around one simple idea: know where your food comes from. Every product on their shelves was chosen because of the producer, the sourcing, and the story behind it. At the heart of the shop is their locally and ethically sourced meat and seafood program. They work directly with ranchers they know personally, including their own family’s Central Coast ranch, so they can tell you exactly how each animal was raised. The butcher counter is complemented by housemade sandwiches, a California-produced grocery selection, and pantry staples like stocks, dressings, and pickles made in-house. A curated collection of locally made kitchenwares rounds out the shop. Weekly delivery to Summerland, Montecito, and Santa Barbara coming soon.

Women’s clothing boutique BoHoJo has moved out of La Cumbre Plaza and into a marvelous new space at 3324 State Street (between San Roque Road and N. Ontare Road). Come see all the fabulous contemporary apparel curated by owner Jodi Tragerman. “Shoppers can expect 100% cotton comfy-cozy and very breathable fabrics,” she says, citing lines such as Lyssé denim and XCVI/Wearables. “And we also have wonderful cotton sweaters and the full selection of Crown Jewel T-shirts.”

Brunch has arrived at Bistro Amasa, the neighborhood restaurant tucked inside the historic Upham Hotel—the oldest continuously operating hotel in California. Saturday and Sunday mornings (9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.), the wraparound Victorian veranda becomes one of the most charming seats in Santa Barbara for a slow, unhurried meal. Chef Julian Martinez brings the same California-meets-old-world sensibility that earned Barbareño its Michelin recognition: think vadouvan-spiced shakshuka, brioche French toast with vanilla mascarpone, and a chia seed pudding with market fruit and Rancho La Viña walnuts…all best enjoyed with a fresh-squeezed mimosa or the overnight-infused Bloody Mary—and plenty of time to linger. Reservations recommended. (Photo by Jennifer Olson.)
