Still sort of hating Twitter but that's a good idea, I've now made a list to follow those emergency accounts, thank you.
What are the heath implications & environmental hazards of cloud seeding with silver iodide? This publication by NIH on toxicity does not bring a lot of comfort in my mind to this practice. https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/Silver-Iodide#section=Hazards-Summary
The owners say that that's not the case—while people have made offers, they're proceeding with their plans.
Thank you for this great list of resources. Info has been really hard to track down today.
My contractor mentioned to me last week that the plans to open Teddy’s at the old Mackenzie market were no longer happening. I guess the current owners of the property received an all cash offer for for close to 5 million dollars and they decided to sell. Can anyone confirm?
Viva Elon! Twitter has been and always will be, KING ✔️
Thank you for the Twitter recommendations.
I am also very very excited about teddys from Carpinteria opening at the Mackenzie market. I stopped by the coffee house that the owners of teddys opened in carpinteria a few months ago, and I swear to god that I have been back to Brass Bird coffee for 19 days straight. It is one of the best coffee houses I have ever tried. Obviously the people that own teddys & brass bird coffee are very talented and I simply can’t wait to see what they come up with at the old Mackenzie market.
Agree KJ! A lot of "wet blanket" responses = too much negativity.
That's disappointing, huge shame, RH has become a bland China-made big box chain now. Can't believe Montecito would allow a department store/RH in such a prominent charming location. I will make it a point not to shop there in hopes that they have to lease to a more appropriate shop for the community. PS: all the RH furnishings are constructed with significant chemicals - going into any of their locations in the last 3 years is unhealthful. And smelly ?
Have you been to my shop? Have you been to Indian Pink? Folly? Punch? Lone Tree? There are unique and artful shops oozing with personality in the Santa Barbara Arts District.
Too bad about plaza deli...another nail in coffin for the shopping center...there is no shopping in SB..we need a Kohls
THIS is great news — plus parking! I can't wait for Sama Lama (Oh yes, we're calling it that whether the owners like it or not!). Great news for San Roque!
Love that this is coming to San Roque!
Sarcasm heard. And this will undoubtedly be a small showroom like the downtown studio. But I think RH is the epitome of what big box is in 2023. Check out their site and their San Francisco gallery: 5 stories, 80,000 square feet. That's one big (fancy) box in a historic building. Don't even get me started on their exclusive planes they now offer... Also these stores are fine, they are what they are... and quite beautiful... but wow, a chain like this feels like a big change to the Upper Village, especially when Caruso already has his sites on buying the shopping center next door. Change happens. I get it. But SIGH... all sort of sad if you ask me.
Agreed, I came here to say this. Sama Dog is a huge missed opportunity.
Wow. I think it sounds wonderful and wish Mary Ta the very best in making her ambition a reality in SB. I don't understand the cynicism and catty remarks.
Cynthia, thank you for a perfectly written opinion. Suggested solutions are crucial to solving a challenge. I have wondered why we don't adopt ideas that are working elsewhere. When I lived in Seattle, there was a gallery sitting empty. The city invited each of 18 artists to create an indoor miniature golf hole. To play was $5 and wine was available after 9 p.m.. There are good examples at Santana Row in San Jose. I don't think we need to spend so much money on outside advice when we have so much talent here. Of course we have to start with clean. In my experience, many people are willing to do something if they just know what it is.
Yes!!! With this and the new Brass Bear location in the Cafe Stella spot I may never need to go downtown again ?
Surely it should be called Sama Lama Dog Dog!!
I may as well just give them my credit card now to open my tab.
Once again, a business fantasy from the big city seems to know what Santa Barbara is missing. What these outsiders don’t seem to “get” is there have been countless others who have imagined the same exact thing. Most are out of business . The Santa Barbara community can’t sustain “concepts”, because the majority of the population aren’t wealthy. With most folks struggling to pay overpriced rent., not much left over for high priced concepts.
