I went to the newly opened carwash on Milpas last week and they did a fabulous job on my car! It's completely remodeled inside and appears to have new ownership.
I hear you about the signs. I did put those up and I was not thrilled either. I did not give my sign guy the exact Pantone colors but this was not what I had imagined. They also were supposed to be 18 x 24 not 24 x 36. So it was a comedy of errors. Maybe I can move them to another place in the lot that is less conspicuous. I do care very much about these things as well. Wish signs were not so expensive these days but I will think about it for sure. Also wish we didn't have so many problems with people parking in the lot and walking off. People of SB, if you want to park here please adhere to the rules. The rates are very reasonable and thank you for supporting local business!
If you are talking about Sushi Bar that is a totally different omakase experience then the many options you can find on the Nobu menu.
I took the NYC reference from the SB county development sign I saw. It had his name and address as being in NYC, who knows, I could be wrong.
I grew up in the original house that burned down in 1977 - the garage is the only thing that remained, the mailbox is the original as well. This land must be cursed.
I don't think the Haber's are new to Montecito since my kids, now in their mid-to-late 20's, went to MUS with their kids. And I look forward to trying his crab cake sliders and clam chowder!
Ate at Azul last night for the first time. Amazing cocktails and food. Did you mention it before and I missed it? Really exceptional.
Erick. Thanks for the great photos of the seminary. I see what you mean about deferred maintenance, but what a gorgeous complex. Hopefully someone will renovate it and not destroy the charm.
Grocery Outlet
Nobu is better suited for the Miramar with their ridiculous attitude. Yes, the food can be excellent but good sushi is really not that hard to find, just head up coast village road...
Fantastic!! Thanks for making Summerland a better place!!!
I think you might be trying a bit hard. I wish you lots of luck as you will need it. I wonder if you have any restaurant experience? I think I will take on professional photography and see how that pans out. lol ???? Jonathan
That sounds like a smaller version of the menu at teddys by the sea. Right down to the specials on lobster rolls they serve. Not to original I would say. CL….. out
Try supporting instead of hating. Looking forward to this new spot. Best of luck
Okay but can we at least acknowledge the interior/exterior mismatch for 845 Alameda Padre Sierra? I'm sure this came down to permitting issues or budget, but the exterior from the front seems so incredibly dated, while the inside is so well done it's hard to find a single thing I'd change.
More destruction of what used to be a simple little beautiful place to live. So sad to see it all happening. Old timer.
McConnell's also came out on top in a shootout of 24 vanilla ice creams on the always excellent Binging with Babish YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/ESWbKCLPWRs?si=0rwbaOkRCk31DuWm
I know two of Mr. Haber's neighbors and they speak less than fondly of him. I stood in the back of my truck and looked over his Tom Sawyerish whitewashed fence at the clear cutting of majestic oaks. . . sheesh. Sad that the new norm in Montecito is people moving here and cutting down the hedges and trees that have made it the "semi-rural, rarified enclave by the sea," as some refer to Montecito. And good luck with the Summerland business. He's going to compete with Field & Fork for an already slim market.
I am horrified that these landmarks cannot be saved and that a huge apartment complex can potentially go in there. What can we do to stop this ? It’s not all about profit - it’s heritage saving the gorgeous architecture that makes SB special. The buildings should be repurposed - hopefully the city can work with whoever buys it to preserve this gem.

I am very aware of Eminent Domain. The Naval Base in Lemoore, CA was my fathers farm land
In this case it seems it would be a higher tax bracket. I don’t think they would use Eminent Domain but your question was do the public have the right and that is what they use if they want to take something
