Hamburgers to go? Or will some of the space in the parking lot be repurposed for tables?
Wow! great reporting! I welcome a $ 4 cheeseburger!
State and Gutierrez??

If the staff at the WinDow see a face and hands smooshed against the glass, it’s just me waiting for the opening 😊
Looks to me like a relic from the now defunct Casa Blanca Restaurant and Cantina at 330 State Street ... designed by my favorite architect, the wonderful Jeff Shelton.
Wow, this is amazing news. The best fried chicken sandwich I've ever had was from the Win-dow in Venice.
the "egg" is on the construction site at the SE corner of State St and E Gutierrez St.

I've seen nothing saying it was closing, just that is was sold
Damn those ‘65 and ‘36 houses are pretty.
The Dutch Garden will continue with Chef Matt who has been there all along. It is NOT closing.
In a post, so went to La Paloma web page and there it is✔️. This news + Dutch Garden being sold- waaaa
Where did you see this?
Thanks, updated the text.
Not sure it is significant, but 2760 Sycamore Canyon sold for 9M on 10/3/24 - maybe owners had a change of heart.
When we were little over on bath five hundred block. Ernie's was the place had the best fries. They're the original He would see us messing around outside and oops.Right before closing he would drop fries. Well kids I can't eat all these fries make bags for each of us. Virgil Vasquez was the owner and he.Also had his barbershop Behind the shop. Sorry , I can go on and on with cookie fun stories But true.
Well, gosh. I was really excited about Takashi Ramen, too. They had an extensive menu at DoorDash, so I ordered through them. Always hoping a new restaurant can find its groove, and maybe they need another month or two to dial things in, but it was a very disappointing, poor-tasting, mediocre meal. The 24 hr Tonkotsu ramen (seemingly their flagship?) had half-cooked noodles and an awful broth. Big letdown since that was the main thing I wanted on a cold rainy night. The Salmon Ikura Bowl was dry and bland, with overcooked pieces of salmon. I love salmon and hate wasting food, but I had to throw both of these dishes away after trying to get a few bites down. The Homemade Gyoza was expensive, but OK, and the Fried Shrimp Bowl was good. 3 Crisp and hot prawns with a nice batter. But it’s not a great sign when you order undercooked, bad-tasting ramen from a place with "ramen" in its name. I wish them well, and maybe they'll have things tasting better in another month or two, or maybe they’re still figuring out delivery, but this was an expensive meal with less than half of it worth eating. I wanted (at least) a 50% refund, but DoorDash wasn’t up for it.
So this apartment building on Carillo and De La Vina fell through I guess. https://www.noozhawk.com/22-unit-housing-project-converts-critics-wins-key-approval-at-jiffy-lube-site-in-downtown-santa-barbara/
I still mourn the loss of Romanti-Ezer there, but this seems like a good replacement. Dunno about the parking issue, there are multiple parking structures less than 5 minutes walk away (City Lot #2, Lot #10 and the Paseo Nuevo lot) They can *&^% off with their 3% bullshit surcharge though.
Win-Dow? That's unfortunate, given Third Window is currently the most popular smash burger in town...
Parking should not be a problem with a 3 story parking structure (practically empty) directly across the street
Nice! Was hoping this building would be something cool. There is one in the Grove in LA
Could park in the Macy lot across the street
Maybe Dudley can take over tri county produce. Probably thinks he can do it better than Dixon. R.
Noticed La Paloma has hired a new chef and is pushing aside the Rancho cooking style for local(??)- my question is where has Chef Jeremy Tummel gone? Well deserved fishing trip?
