I love to complain about other people’s difficulties with parking, even as my own skills seem to be deteriorating. If you spot a notably shoddy attempt, tag @SitelineSB, or email or text it to me ([email protected], 917-209-6473), and maybe this can become a recurring feature.
Nowhere do you see more sub-par parking than at the Montecito Country Mart, thanks to the mix of privilege and an unwieldy lot—but mostly the privilege.
As you’d expect, the Upper Village is not immune.
Nor is The Post.
Or maybe that’s a truck thing? When I posted the photo below on Instagram, someone said it was intentional, so as not to block the way. If your vehicle is too large for a lot, perhaps it’s a sign you should park elsewhere.
But not at REI, or you can really cause problems.

This post doesn’t increase my hope for humankind. I was driving home to SB from Agoura Hills today, and the other drivers on the 101 were insufferable.
Ok, end of rant..
Giving the Handicap parker a pass IF they actually HAD a permit. Perhaps the handicapped person is on the passenger side which would explain their needing more room to exit the vehicle. However, it is usually an able bodied person who cheats and this IS Montecito after all.
Just park in the bike lane. Amazon will show you how to do it, if you are unsure.
The valet attendants at Lucky’s are professionals — they double park in the bike lane for hours!
The parking photos made me laugh out loud! Thanks for the silliness! We don’t know what others motivations are, but we can certainly make light (or dark) of the results.
The best page on Instagram is CARTNARCS- the guy who hummilates losers who can’t return their carts at the grocery store. I stopped using the YOU MUST BE A BIDEN VOTER when people just randomly left their carts in handicapped parking spaces/next to another car- twice in Buellton I had people come UNGLUED when called out – always immediatley defending their actions as they things to do vs just putting the damn cart back where it belongs…..of one of those 2 times a guy had a female and a young child in the vehicle- tried to ram me in the parking lot #coexist and always put your cart back, it is there for your CONVENIENCE for pete’s sake!
