Linden Square’s Rooftop Bar Opens Today

••• Arnie’s Rooftop Bar at Linden Square opens today (April 20). Being above street level feels great, and live music is in the works. Here’s the drinks menu; you can bring up food from Tina’s, Corazón Cocina, and Third Window.

••• Also opening today: South Coast Deli‘s Funk Zone outpost, in the former Rincon Brewery space at Yanonali and Santa Barbara.

••• Monte’s restaurant’s Friday farmer’s market (10 a.m. to 1 p.m) has some lovely produce, as you’d expect given that it’s related to a farm. But I was even more excited by the sauerkraut (haven’t tried yet) and the delicious Korean-style pickles.

••• The Santa Barbara Wine Festival returns to the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History on June 27: “the festival brings together many of the region’s most celebrated wineries, restaurants, and culinary artisans for an afternoon of tasting, discovery, and connection.”

••• A Greek restaurant called Selene Nomos is coming to Camino Real Marketplace in Goleta (i.e., the one with Costco and Home Depot). “Owner Zisis Kostantinis is also affiliated with Kozi Mercato Mondiale of Santa Barbara, a culinary venture involved in the import and export of Italian food products.” —Restaurant Guy

••• Those of you who complain that all new restaurants are too expensive should give Gracie a try—the crispy salmon in an anise-saffron sauce below is just $24, even more remarkable given the harborside location. And it was very good!

I’m conflicted about Monte’s having a farmer’s market on the same day as the original farmers market.

The original farmers market on Coast Village Road is pretty limited, so I see Monte’s as being value additive. I’m more likely to shop at both now, than I was to go shop at the 5-6 stands at the original

I pulled up to Funk Zone South Coast Deli at 11am and was surprised to find a few parking spots in the lot. Since I work in the FZ I know parking enforcement is like the Carrillo location. . . hardly any enforcement. Yellow & Red zones are more like, “Parking for those running in to pick up.” I got my Cobb salad to go but the inside and outdoor patio are really nice.
