Horrid article from la times.
They put out great piece a few weeks ago thayt does not teeter into the typical bleeding heart, misanthropic, self loathing BS and there’s no climate non sequitur.
It’s a very focused and precise article, and it is spot on.

https://www.latimes.com/environment/newsletter/2025-08-28/boiling-point-the-myth-keeping-wildfires-alive

Now this most recent article about not having any vegetation within 5 feet of the roof, it’s just coping and virtue signaling for their lack of skill and efficiency. They want to Change the subject.
Why they would say clear brush 5 feet around House, like that’s the magic cure-all for fire, and the house is not burning down.

9 months after the Palisades Fire, let’s reflect on the events even if they wish they’d be forgotten. The state of California failed to conduct brush clearance in Topanga State Park, a significant factor in the severity of the fire. Additionally, a fire in the park 6 days prior to the Palisades Fire was declared out but was left unmonitored during a major wind event. what? WHO would not monitor a fire with the winds.
Despite forecasts of high winds, minimal resources were deployed in the Los Angeles area, with the nearest support stationed in Santa Clarita—and even those were inadequate. The investigation into the fire’s cause remains ‘inconclusive’, with no clear evidence reported.
But obv many believe the Palisades Fire was likely a rekindle from the earlier fire, possibly sparked by smoldering roots or debris.
Yes, the winds were strong, especially in the foothills by Pasadena, but if you look at the winds and the videos of the Palisades fire, and the recorded winds charted…the highest Gust that was 38 miles an hour on day 1. Yes, big winds, but not so big that fire department should not even in there defending these homes.

They tell you to evacuate, don’t send any firefighters in, and let the homes burn down.
But YEAH… clear 5 feet around the house.
Thats the deal

What they tell you is if you got a pool, you should have a pump like Mark 3 or somthing, gated wye and some hose. If there’s a fire spray paint that there’s a hose at the pool before you evacuate so firefighters know that you have water.

If you think what happened to the Palisades is not 100% possible in Santa Barbara, and the behavior that they fight fire with and how horrible they’re making the rebuilding process… You are not paying attention. Take a look at skofield park (with Gibraltar rd right above it) rattlesnake canyon mission cyn and all that.

We have city governments whose only job after disaster like this is to deny, deflect and delay. hoping people give up This is what they’re doing in the Palisades, and this is what they would do here.

Oh and the eaton fire… They said the investigation will take 12 to 18 months for an obvious SCE powerline fire. This delays all lawsuits and makes living unbearable for people that have no resources right now.
and 70% of all sales so far are from foreigners mostly in mainland china.

Edit to 2nd paragraph
*for their lack of skill and efficiency – this refers to the city and state administrations lack of skill and efficiency, not the firefighters.

Huge news from Ventura, kudos to their council for standing up for their pedestrianized street! 6-1 vote is impressive.

Perhaps the marketing guru’s behind the 105-Room ‘Marriott Tribute Hotel, could insert
“Montecito” into its overall description, taking a page from The Post Montecito shopping mall located on East Cabrillo Blvd.

It’s comical, isn’t it? The Post claiming a Montecito?. Really folks, Santa Barbara is not a bad location.
