••• Large developments at the northwest and southeast corners of Garden Street and Yanonali Street (Platform Santa Barbara and the Garden Street Hotel, respectively) will one day change the character of the east side of the Funk Zone, but nearby, the north end of the block formed by Yanonali, Santa Barbara, Gray, and Mason is being nurtured in very interesting fashion. The little yellow house at 130 Yanonali Street is now the Little Yellow House Studios, where four artists—Erika Carter, Liz Brady, Donna Ayscough, and Virginia McCracken—are making art and willing to sell it. In back, two small shops will open in coming weeks: Jes MaHarry (jewelry) and The Huntress (plants, pots, etc.). The green building to the east, the artists’ former studio, will be home to a florist. And on the vacant lot to the west of Little Yellow House Studios, Dart Coffee Co. will be building a new café. That’s a ways off, so what will happen with its existing space remains to be seen.
••• Officially opening next month, Connected Strength is “a premium Tonal-powered small group fitness studio” at 910 Philinda Avenue (around the corner from Bossie’s Kitchen) in Santa Barbara. “We’ll be offering primarily strength training alongside Pilates Sculpt classes leveraging the power of Tonal to ensure every rep is personalized to your unique strength profile.” An easy way to check it out: the all-day launch party this Saturday, June 20 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.), by which point the Tonal machines will have been installed.
••• Women’s apparel brand Lela Rose—”modern designer separates for day to occasion”—opens at The Post on June 26.
••• Robert Plant with Saving Grace and Suzi Dian will be at the Arlington Theatre on October 1. And Melissa Etheridge plays the Lobero Theatre on October 23.
••• I mentioned the new Casa Iglesia “contactless” hotel in Santa Barbara in last week’s News Roundup, and a similar property has opened in Carpinteria, at 4745 Carpinteria Avenue. It’s called The Rincon Rooms, and there are just six rooms—and very handsome ones at that. (The proprietors are Carpinterians Justin Klentner and Amanda Masters.) As at Casa Iglesia, “There is no traditional front desk or on-site concierge. Everything you need for your stay will be shared digitally prior to arrival.” N.B. A restaurant will be on the ground floor.

••• I kicked off my recent Walk With Me post about the area around La Colina Junior High by mentioning that there was once an alien in someone’s front yard on Via Diego. It’s actually still there, reports T. The most rational explanation for my not seeing it was that it was off in its spaceship.
••• No one identified Where in Santa Barbara…?, so here’s the answer: the sign for Stress-Free Auto Care (formerly Village Auto Repair) is near the Village Service Station in Montecito’s Upper Village.
